Let's see. It could be from the fact that I've seen it called that time after time on this board and others. It could be because it's the only CCI I ever see in stores in bricks (or in "bulk" as it were). You can buy 500 rounds at a time. Why is that not bulk? It's called target ammo just like a lot of other ammo we all call bulk.

Perhaps you might look at the CCI website here:
http://www.cci-ammunition.com/ballistics/detail.aspx?loadNo=0032

CCI SV comes in 100 count plastic box.
You can buy 500 rounds at a time.
A brick of 500 rounds of .22 ammo does not equal being bulk ammo. Bulk .22 ammo is packed loose in box. Some of the boxes have as little as 325 rounds and some have as many as 555 rounds. Generally it's the ammo we complain about because it's dirty, we have duds, it's not accurate, etc. & we get real excited when we actually find some that shoots well in our rimfires at the cheap price it sells for! CCI SV has been one of the better .22 ammo's available for years. At the price of $7.00 per 100 it sure doesn't deserve the tag of being bulk .22!

CCI SV also comes in 500 round bricks, or once did, because our local Dick's had a pretty good stock of it the last time I was there.

At one point in April or May, it was about the only 22 ammo they had in stock in any quantity whenever I stopped by, except for bulk Rem stuff. The Dynapoints came and went, so did the other CCI ammo, but those bricks of SV always seemed to be there. It was still there as of a few weeks ago.

bulk ammo

I've bought rem, fed, and win in bulk.I love the big hp win,but hav'nt give all 22's a try. I guess cci mini-mags are the standad for me,with fed 900b saved for kimber 82govt. I wish for the days of 43 cent sale at payless or bazars for the cci blazer in regular boxes of 50,and if I could afford mini mags then I felt rich.

past two days i shot two 550 ct boxes of federal from wally world through a sig hammerli trailside as fast as i could pull the trigger, w/o cleaning or re-applying lube. i had exactly 1 failure, which was a dud round. (i rechambered it and tried again and have two solid striker dents, but no bang)

for the $12 or so i paid for it, per box, i guess i can't complain, though i would be irritated at 1/1000 dud rate in centerfire ammo

I'm sure I've seen CCi SV (Standard Velocity) in 500 round boxes at Dick's Sporting Goods, but their in 50 round boxes, not just thrown in like the ones on the poll list.

Yep and I've never seen "555" count bulk boxes of 'em, either...the ones mentioned in the poll. 'Course I've not seen everything yet, either? Just most of what's been available, over the past 60+ years. I've seen 500, 525 and 550, though!

:banghead:

Federal but only if its Champion copper coated at 1280 FPS at muzzle, shoots perfect in my GSG-5, but the Federal at 1260 FPS at Muzzle only will shoot one at a time.....?

The 555 is the newest thing out from Winchester along with their 333 which is the same ammo only you get less at about the same price! ........LOL

I had a little worse rate than that as I had 3 duds in the first 15 rounds out of a new Federal 550 count from Wal Mart just purchased. None in the next 50 rounds fired! Hopefully I got them all out of the way early! When you get em all in row like that it makes you wonder what people are thinking that asks about a .22 LR for self defense!

Walter O, neither of those are bulk ammo. Also, one is HV and the other is SV. The Blazers are promotional ammo however. Bulk packs are packaged in "milk cartons" and the ammo is loose. I suppose I would call Remington golden bullets packaged in the tins bulk since they are loose. You frequently see them around Christmas.

Yes, loose shells is what determines bulk pack.

I've seen them packed in several different quantities.

I know one thing....you will be sorry if you don't wear eye protection while shooting Remmy GBs! Otherwise, your eyeballs will be full of grit at the end of the day.

It's come back from the dead!

Remington rimfire ammo is junk. My Savages seem to like Federal Match Subsonic best. Unfortunately that's really expensive, but they work well with the Federal bulk packs. Not had any experience with the Winchesters.

At least this one was started this year.

I voted for the Win. 555, because they have been a little more accurate than the Fed. 550 at the same price; though I have only fired one package of 555s and many...many Feds so it may be too early to tell for sure. Both have few duds, are clean, and fairly accurate; the Rem. GBs are alright in my experience, but are more costly and just don't perform as well (not as clean, accurate, or reliable for me).

:)

I have run all 3 in my 10/22 and i get the fewest malfunctions with the Winchester.
Federal is ok in my non simi autos
Remington gold is the dirtiest ammo iv ever seen, after loading just a 10 round mag that goldish powder is all over my hands, what junk.

I've tried all three of the listed, and the Federal is the only one that didn't give me any trouble in any of my .22s. I will never buy a bulk pack of Remington, or Winchester, I still have half empty boxes of both. I can't use the rest because I can't get them to cycle consistently in any of my .22s they are total crap.

The Fedeal bulk ammo is pretty good, but if you're doing target shooting with a bolt action .22 CCI Standard Velocity is the way to go. I consitantly shoot sub inch 100 yard groups from my Remington 513T with it :)

Mav....just what is wrong with the 'Thunderbolt'....?

Other than the fact I have seen the insides of ships engines that burn bunker sea heavy oil cleaner than a 22 after 500 rounds of the stuff.

Just because the inside of your gun looks like a road crew just put down tar....I don't see the problem.

A real man can hit what he's aiming at while using Thunderbutt ammo....and his gun will digest at least 50 rounds of it before seizing up.

hehehehe.......!

Federal 510 in the 50 round boxes usually ends up being about 10% more expensive than bulk pack ammo, and is far more accurate and reliable. The only bulk pack that I shoot these days is Federal Automatch.

I was always partial to winchester target match 22 in the 10x 50rd bricks, for target shooting and plinking in general. But after, all of a sudden running into some issues with the ammo, misfiring and erradic functioning including blown out cases. I wanted to try something else. I gave the Federal bulk stuff a try, just for the hell of it, and to my suprise this cheap ammo shot more consisantly than the winchester match stuff. Sure there are some guys at the range that shoot RWS/Lapua ammo and nothing else, but for the money they pay for the ammo, could be shooting something more than a 22.

LOL, I knew there had to be a reason for the 50rnd box being the standard for .22lr (when everyone I know shoots 100+ per outing).

:)
