S&W 625 - I have Leadhead SWC 200 gr. @ 1,025 FPS
recoil is very manageable, it's accurate, this is in .45 ACP with
full moon clips as well as .45 Auto RIm I am working on a load
for a 225 gr. TC-BB I also have from Leadhead. The full moon
clips are the easier/quicker reload, as well as less bulky than HKS
SPeedloaders. My 625 has a 5" Bbl. I think a 4 incher would have
better balance, and pointability.

If you handload

Any of these will do out of a 3-4" N-frame. Do you want to have moon clips or speedloaders?

If you don't handload, I'd go with the 41 or .44 magnum, because a lot of .45 acp, .45 colt and .44 Spl. are loaded lightly.
