I lurk on this forum a lot, and I've noticed that even with all the slipjoint fans here, I rarely seem to see posts about the canoe pattern. I've always loved this pattern, I don't know why...I just love something about the lines. Anyway, I'm getting married at the end of October, and I want to do knives as groomsman gifts. I think I have it narrowed down to two.

This one: W.R. Case Amber Bone Canoe 62131 CV

or this one: Queen® Canoe #64 with Amber Carved Stag Bone™ Handle

Sorry about the long links....I really need to learn how to shorten those. I'd also love to see pictures of or hear about favorite canoes in the replies.

Thanks
Adam

Mod edit:
Basically, highlight a piece of text, click the blue "link" icon (beside the yellow "image" icon), and paste the link into the little box. You can have descriptively worded clickable links, and the ugliness of a long link disappears.

You're getting married...Theoretically for the rest of your life. You want those guys to come to your 50th anniversary and still be carrying the knives you gave 'em all those years ago. Get the Case.

I have a Rough Rider canoe, and it's a good knife, but I'm looking for something more along the lines of a semi-heirloom. I mean, I want a quality useable knife, but this is also a token and keepsake to my closest friends on one of the most important days of my life. I don't think Bear and Son makes the canoe pattern. If they do, I can't seem to find it anywhere. The Buck that someone mentioned is a little on the plain side, plus I believe it's one of their made in china knives. I own made in china knives, but I'd prefer something american for this occasion(which is the reason I haven't really looked at Bokers). I guess my question is, does anyone know of another canoe that fits my qualifications...high quality, sort of fancy looking, american made, and in the 50-80 dollar price range other than the queen or the case? Not that either of these seems to be a bad choice. It would also be nice to hear from someone who has owned both brands. I've never owned either, but I do intend to buy myself one to match my groomsmens'.

Best words to sum it up!

A Queen or Casexx works just fine. I just got a new Casexx large Stockman pattern with amber bone slabs. few minutes at the kitchen table with a jar of honing oil and a black Arkansas stone and its mighty sharp! Case/Queen make so many neat patters I'd go broke trying to get all the ones I thought where neat.
