Which of these three would you choose?

Intimidation factor

It would seem from anecdotal evidence that most people who are inexperienced with firearms knowledge are swayed and frightened by the physical characteristics of certain firearms. In this group I would also include the gangbanger/thief/punk types who may handle guns regularly but in my opinion are still inexperienced due to their lives being dominated by constant reaction to external stimuli. In other words their mind is unable to reason and overcome their emotions.
If this hypothesis holds true then the 44 redhawk would be the pistol of choice.
Similar ballistics to a 45 ACP and 5 big honkin' hollowpoints staring back at you for the intimidation factor gets my vote.
Here is a thread from Preacherman which describes this.

If, after tripping over your wires and yard-sale stuff the BG decided to kill or maim you and your family, I'd say the Glock. Probably more controllable and almost as deadly. IT will do the job without "overkill" (ouch).

jAK-47

My reply was based on the fact I don't like plastic guns too much (Glocks) and I will never own a Smith and Wesson because the new owners have not shown me any evidence that they are attempting to back out of the Clinton deal.

IMHO

Glock first choice, hands down. Easiest to shoot one handed. You did have a flashlight, right?

Redhawk 2nd because of bulk and weight and over penetration

S&W 3rd because of muzzle blast and flash

I don't know all the various laws of other states, but it would seem if you showed the handgun in a threatening manner to someone who is not causing you any harm is to be considered brandishing. Since you were still inside of your locked home then how could you have been in danger?
Now a better question would be why did you leave valuable items out in your driveway every night? Could you have moved them or atleast got them out of eyesight? That sounds like an open invitation to a would be perp and a slick DA making a name for himself could show your actions as setting a trap.
Just something to think about.

I've got to agree with some others here. If you have set up a situation which you do not have to leave that way that you say "hey, I may need to scare some folk" you have already failed. If that stuff was inside before, it could have stayed inside for one more night. So in this situation, I say the firearm itself is not as important as avoiding the situation in which you would have to use it. Then use what you have because you need to and don't have a choice, not because it is scary looking.
