Forgive me, but I really haven't been keeping up with the election as well as I should.

Which of the two main Republican candidates is the best choice concerning 2nd Amendment issues? And why?

given the choices....

i'd say Huckabee.

*edit* I just saw where you said "two main" which I would assume is McCain and Romney aka two republicrats. That's a tough one.

Ron Paul, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Mitt Romney
Best---------------------------------->Pure Evil

Huckabee having a CCW definitely gets a HUGE nod from me.

Write-in "Fred D. Thompson."

Here's why.

If you can’t bring yourself to vote for the offerings in your primary, or if the eventual nominee is somebody you can’t stomach, don’t sit out, and don’t vote for the Democrat. Write in Fred Thompson’s name.

Why?

By doing so, you send a message that can’t be mistaken or spun. It is a message that says:

“I am a Republican who wanted to vote for a conservative GOP candidate, but wasn’t able to do so. I can’t vote for a Democrat, but I can’t vote for any of the Republicans, either. So I’m writing in the name of the candidate I wish I could have voted for, because he is the kind of candidate I could support.”

They have to learn that if they want conservative votes, they have to nominate candidates conservatives would want to vote for.

This strategy is the only one that offers any hope of changing the leftward move of the GOP in the future. Sitting out won’t do it - they can spin the reasons why you sat out. Voting Democrat won’t do it, they can spin it that the GOP candidates weren’t liberal enough. Even voting “None of the Above” won’t do it, because that doesn’t specify what you want instead of none of the above.

I’m pretty sure that if this notion starts to get traction, Fred Thompson will publicly oppose it. Don’t worry, and don’t listen to him. This isn’t really about Fred Thompson. It’s about the future of the Republican party. Fred ran because he hoped to influence that, but he failed. Now it’s time for the rest of us to take a crack at it.

So remember: Just write in Fred Thompson’s name when it comes time to cast your vote. (There’s nothing stopping you from writing it in for other offices, either).

And ignore all the squalling that you have to vote GOP because it is marginally less evil than the Democrats. Given the rate of decay we’re seeing now, even that won’t be true (if it really is even now) in a couple more election cycles.

Oh yea, Romney voted for the Assault weapons ban. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire

Huckabee's voting record on 2a issues seems pretty solid.....

Ron Paul!!!! No question...He's a past libertarian, a constitutionalist and more than anyone running, he's all for smaller gov, no income tax! ( we'll have a budget as big as year 2000 even when IRS shuts down! ) and he's got brilliant well conceived plans for cutting gov spending and curing our economy for good!!! Please...Please, check him out!!!! It's crucial that people hear his message, he's founding father material, a rare person period!

This is not the happiest of GOP fields in which to choose. I'm reminded of Bob Dole in 1996. :scrutiny:

Ron Paul is not a "conservative." He is a Big-L libertarian, even ran for Prez on the Libertarian ticket back in 1988. This means he annoys both the left and the right, as he sometimes "agrees" with one or the other, but for reasons completely foreign to them (ie, principle).

I'd love a Ron Paul presidency, except for the fact that he doesn't take seriously the concept that America has enemies and they must be dealt with quite forcefully.

If I had a choice, I'd resurrect the defunct Duncan Hunter campaign (maybe, he wasn't in it long enough for me to get a good bead on him).

Not McCain (for all the liberal bill he co-sponsored with liberals, Feingold, Kennedy, Edwards, Lieberman, etc). His embrace of Global Warming fanaticism and other enviro-paganism.

Thompson: Mixed bag, and he doesn't (didn't) want it.

Rudy: One note song.

Mitt: His time as governor in Mass was not stellar. He didn't help the economy there.

Huck: He's a big-government "populist" and Global Warming enviro-nut.

So, the lesser of all these evils? Ummm, uh... Romney?

He does take that seriously! So much that he want's to stop making enemies!! We just fight the symptoms of our policy! Our borders are wide open, our security and intelligence gathering is a mess.... We can be better off building a strong economy, organizing ourselves better and setting strong economical, social and moral examples here!
Romney is bad!! I'm in NH, most hate him here, most in Mass despise him! He just outright lies!! He did raise taxes in Mass, employment in Mass went up 1.5% while he was gov...what he doesn't tell you is that during that time, nation wide, employment rose 5% !! He's banned guns, signed all gun control bills...etc. I have a few videos of him losing his cool with people and laughing at ideas of tax alternatives! I voted and will vote Ron Paul. Don't like anyone else much although I checked them all out and read and watched videos. I can live with Huckabee as pres, but McCain and Romney are bad, typical politicians.

Paul or nothing.
Which means if mr 3% rolls as an independent, and the same 3% votes for him... then Paul becomes our Ralph Nader and all he will succeed in doing is split the conservative vote the same way Nader split the Liberal vote in 2000. We missed out on President Gore because of the Split Vote. If there is a split vote again, this time it will favor the Dems. You vote for Ron Paul as an independent, you might as well be voting for Hillary or Obama.
That's shooting yourself in the foot.

I've already accepted the fact that America doesn't want a republican president. Bring on Obama, the semi-auto ban, and full registration of all guns. Only then will America wake up, just like 1994.

Problem is.....how will we get rid of it :scrutiny:

JCT I agree with you but do you want a 30% sales tax. I would vote for him if he had a chance and I am (gasp!) a Democrat.

That's shooting yourself in the foot.

Well, considering my sig, do you think that I would ever vote for another Republican? I'm a vote removed from the Democrats, not from the Republicans.

Daemon, if Obama win's, we'll have to invent new types of guns to get by on technicalities. Semi autos have a specific definition, as they will on the books of law. It'll be time for some new hi capacity gun type.
What bother me most is that the dysfunctional minds that think gun control works, may be the minds that run our lives. As though some murderer will be nice because he no longer has a semi auto... Obama has even stated he'd like to ban all calibers .50 and over including Muzzeloaders!
Time for a fully auto crossbow to hit the market.

Naughty

I see you boys are at it again.

Go stand in the corner.

I swear. Work my fingers to the bone. Day and night. Night and day. And for what? You wait till your father gets home.
