Hi
I am traveling with family for a vacation and wanted to take one pistol with me. I am undecided between these:
1. Glock 19
2. DW VBob 1911 .45

I shoot both well. Both are conceal-able and very reliable.

I will be attending a few wedding functions and social events. Some late night travel but nothing in the woods.

Which would you choose?

Cant go wrong with either, if you shoot both equally well.
When out of town and staying somewhere unfamiliar I like the option of a rail mounted light when not carrying.
Still, I voted DW. Simply out of bias.

Personally? The Glock.

I carried the VBob for years and it’s a phenomenal carry gun but it’s now too heavy for my back to handle, else I’d probably still be carrying it every day.

But, when I’m traveling I prefer to use an easier to replace, less expensive, option. Plus the lighter weight is nicer if I’m in the car more or in unfamiliar settings.

Take the G19. In the unlikely event you lose it to a seizure (such as after a DGU incident) or other scenario, you can get another one pretty much anywhere.

Of course, this line of thinking could apply on home territory, too.

Take the Wesson if there's anyone you'll be visiting who is a fellow enthusiast and with whom you might want to share it.

Although I voted the DW, the real question is which one do you have a good holster for? Both aren't necessarily light pistols, and if you have social engagements to attend, the one that would conceal the best and carry the best would likely be your answer.

Both. Depending on laws where you are and where you're going. I don't know if there's a bit of merit to it, but on long drives I've always liked the idea of having something more quickly accessible in a vehicle than what I'm carrying on me. Where legal, of course.

Assuming no restriction and that both work for you, thus the question posed to us, Glock. While the VBob was clipped for carry the Glock was born for it with greater capacity built into a similar footprint.

Vbob is safer. Glock is faster out of the holster, and a better overall fighting pistol.

Family function in a safe area, I'd lean towards Vbob. Going through a dumpy city, G19 all the way. Sweaty weather, G19. My G23 replaced all of my smaller 1911's. I have 2 fullsize 1911's left. They have their niche.
