My gf never wants to go & I don't have any friends that even own guns so I end up going alone. I still enjoy shooting, but it'd be nice to have a range buddy sometimes.

I go alone all the time. Ive got friends with guns, but they never want to go. Maybe I should start wearing deodorant?

I go alone sometimes, but it's private land so I usually have a family member wander down and plink a bit before I'm done.

I don't know, to me it's not a team sport anyway so I don't mind going alone. I know the guys pretty well that work at the range so I get to socialize a bit but the actual shooting part is a zen thing.

well i'm one of the lucky ones because my girl go with me and she shoots almost all my weapons but she really love the savage .22 ;)

i would recommend you to get your wife to shoot one of those .22 rifles or pistol.. and then work a way up.. like.." Honey after the range we can go eat some where" or... "lets go to the movies.... ;)

I go alone to monitored fields.. I don't go alone to backwoods ones, seen too many shady characters. I just talked all my friends into buying guns too, that helps alot. It's more fun shooting with someone else IMHO. Spotting for eachother is useful and fun. I still pistol practice by myself all the time though.

I do all the time. I hardly ever shoot alone though as I've made a few friends at the range.

i hate going alone, worst part is that its almost a hour drive, so thats rough too

I do. I prefer it.

The range is .cheese.'s quiet time. Time to concentrate and improve my skill.

If I go with friends, it's a fun visit, but I typically prefer going alone.

Lately, with me getting into air-powered guns, the range has been my back yard (I live on water, so the pellets or BBs just go into the water - no worries about pollution though as a sewage pump is right near my house, so the water is already disgustingly polluted). That ends up being alone time too, except when plinking with soda or beer cans full. Then it's just fun to watch them explode with the family.

The dog LOVES it! Something about soda exploding is as good as bacon to him. I have a pro-gun dog I guess.

It's a good time to relax, and I rather prefer the drive alone. Gives me time to think. So, I go alone all the time. But that may also be because I don't have many friends with guns.

I most often go by myself, but 3/4 of the time there are other shooters at the range either when I get there or before I leave, sometimes it's still an individual thing, other times it turns out 50/50 shooting/ social.

What really makes a group trip enjoyable, for me, is when I can wrangle one or two of my kids' friends into going along with me & son/ daughter. Have them call home so I can talk with a parent, explain where we're planning to go, what we'll do/ shoot, my qualifications (hunter ed, 4-H, NRA inst),how long.... On those trips it doesn't matter to me if I don't fire a shot, once I'm satisfied they can shoot on their own. Only one gun out at a time, ever. 'Specially rewarding to take a first-timer on one of these!!!

Down side of those solitary trips is the number of trips between truck/ bench and bench/ truck. But setting up and leaving on your own schedule has a lot to be said for it. (Leave the phone in truck w/ windows up....)

Almost always alone, to the isolation and absolute quiet (except when I'm firing!) of BLM land out in the middle of nowhere - yet only two miles from my home. I drag my wife out on occasion, as she needs more range time, and has a plethora of .22 and .38 rifles and revolvers to keep adept with. I have always appreciate isolation, the reach of endless open space, and the quiet that you can find there - and New Mexico sure has a lot of that! :)

For me - the range is a place where I can be by myself with my thoughts. I'm able to forget things that wear me down and just relax and think about the mechanics of shooting.

Personally, I love shooting by myself, but today I took my wife with me to the range. She just got a 22. revolver as a hand-me-down from her grandfather who recently passed away. I taught her how to clean and care for her gun. She had a great time and I think she's coming with me again next time!

When I go to my local range, which is where I do most of my shooting, I go alone. However, I do enjoy the times I go to my brother's house and shoot on his property with my brother and my nephews.

Yeah I go alone when I want to relax- it is very cathartic after a long week.

But, I do like going with a pal- or even better taking somebody for the first time. I usually load up the King cobra with wimpy .38 reloads for them (.357 for me:evil:).
