Who else goes to the range alone?

Since "open" range time here is on some of the worst schedules known to man, I usually end up going alone. Very rarely do I have someone to go with me.

At the same time, much of the range shenanigans go on when there are multiple participants.......a bunch of solo shooters are MUCH less likely to doing the dumb things.

I belong to a private club and go solo ~97% of the time. I try to hit the range on off-peak hours; often will not see another person during my 1 – 2 hours there. Outside of a single family member, none of my acquaintances are interested in firearms training, AFAIK. Over the past year or so about the only time I did not go solo was when I was taking newbies shooting.

I prefer alone; its' a zen thing; I use a public range in a national park in Ky. which is gorgeous; the difficulty is getting it to yourself. But the best time seems to be midweek and midmorning in mid fall. I love it on clear, slightly cold days.

I suspect another reason you may have asked is safety; I have shared the range with weirdos and unsafe people before; I often sit and wait for them to leave. I always have another loaded gun on that I'm not shooting at the moment, and check six before I shift attn to the target.
Cheers, TF

I generally go by myself, although a few friends from work and I will go once a month to shoot and relax. We even get a couple of the ladies that we work with to go with us on our monthly trip, as they are new. That is more fun than anything else, getting new shooters going and teaching them how to do things.

I'd say I go to the range by myself 60% of the time or more. Love it when I want to practice something specific or just want to relax and unwind.

However, I love shooting with friends for the fellowship and competition.

Usually alone. :( Sometimes my daughter shocks me and asks for me to wait so she can get around and go along...those are the good trips.

This is precisely the reason I own multiple firearms, enough ammo, and multiple hunting outfits. It helps when all others have to do is come along. Even so, gasoline prices, entrance fees to the range and time seem to prohibit a lot of people from going and enjoying a day of shooting/hunting.

Very often by day alone, because poeples are working and I am retaired. Wintertimes allmost always alone.

I used to always go with my father. As he has gotten older, he's had some health issues that have prevented him from going.

I usually end up going alone, but occasionally, my wife will go as well.

I'm trying to get my nephew involved, but so far, he hasn't accepted my offer to go.

always alone, I enjoy the solitude, and concentration. If the bride comes ,as she does regularly we separate our selves by a good distance and do not talk until we are done

I go alone almost all the time. When I go I generally have a specific goal in mind. I have a 50 round course of fire that I made up to test my skills from various distances, holstered, low-ready, hands-up, and turn-and-draw. I have a timer and record the results. I compete against myself when I practice. I also have several other 'tests' that I will run through to check on my progress to becoming a better shooter.

When I take one of my kids with me, I generally shoot just for the fun of it because my attention is directed primarily at making sure they shoot safely and have a good time.

I prefer to shoot alone it lets me concentrate more on what I am trying to acomplish. It is also fun with friends to play games like sporting clays or timed situations.

Like many of you, I go alone, most of the time, so I can concentrate on marksmanship. Marksmanship is not much of a social activity.

I go alone because I do not have anyone to go with me.

When I lived in Alabama I had lots of friends that loved to shoot. I always had someone to shoot with.

Now that I am in Georgia I do not have many friends.

This weekend is the exception to the rule as it is one of the rare times that I will have a companion. My fiancee sent me an email yesterday that the weather is going to be nice on Saturday and asked if I wanted to go to the range. I've never replied back to an email so fast.

Used to be alone all the time. I taught my wife to shoot and she enjoys it....so now I have a shooting partner. We go just about every weekend.
