Well, after playing a bit of Day of Defeat, my "dream gun of the day" is a BAR, and is going on my Guns I WILL Have Someday list. :) As such, who makes these works of art, and what prices do they command? I'm not looking for anything full-auto (as darn cool as it would be), and Ohio Ordinance Works is the only company I can find. The upside (as far as price is concerned) is that extra mags are only $20.00 each. I guess that's the only concession you get when you pay $2850 for a beautiful gun. :(

And just a little eye candy to drool over, courtesy of Ohio Ordinance Works:

I've heard somewhere that the 20-rd BAR mags fit in the "sporter" BAR still made by Browning. Not sure if it's true or not.

Man, what i wouldn't give for a bar...:( That's alotta money, but hey, it's so worth it! Ya know? First spare 3 grand I have layin' around I might have to pick up one :)

bump...
So who's ever been issued/fired a BAR before? What're they like?

How do the new Browning BARs (Like the Safari, etc.) compare? Same action? Nothing similar but the name?

In 1956 (USMC) we were still using the BAR and M1.

Loved them both.

I've been giving some thought to getting a BAR myself.

You like Day of Defeat, try playing Call of Duty..... BAR heaven. :) Especially on multiplayer.

Ohio Ordnance is the only BAR maker I know of. The new BAR and the old BAR only share a name as far as I know.
