Hello all,
I have done business with several quality holster craftsmen and woman over the years. Many are beautiful but not functional, functional but not beautiful, both or neither. Some are great but end up in drawers, some pierce you in the side like a a roman spear, and others find themselves seeing use because they just can't be kept down.
So I thought I would take this opportunity to share some of my favorite holsters that are functional and comfortable enough to see rotation down here. I invite you to do the same.
IWB/OWB: I have to give credit to Ray Cory at Lobo Gun Leather for making 2 of my favorite holsters - an IWB for a S&W 296 snub and an OWB for a Ruger Sp101. Ray's holsters smell great, have lasting dye jobs, and do an excellent job retaining the weapon (maybe too excellent at first, but you can break them in very easily). Runner up to Simply Rugged for the sourdough pancake and crossbreed holsters for the supertuck. Both are good, but lobo wins here, for me.
Pocket: I have tried several brands that I won't mention, but Bob Mika's Pocket Holsters will be my go-to purchase for any pocket holster. Not enough can be said about the service and commitment here. I have at least 6 of these for various models - he even made one for the Gp100 which is definately NOT going in my pocket. Still sees use on the GP when traveling in a case.
Ankle: The winner for me is clear as well: Renegade holsters "cozy partner". You just have to try it to see how good it is.
Classic: Ok, this one doesn't get much use because I don't own it yet, but I wanted to give a shout out to CraigC of the high road for making some of the best looking classic holsters I have seen. Looking forward to this rig for BBQ's and Hikes where the blackhawk can come along in Craig's cali slim jim. No comment on use yet but I will update when it comes.
How about you?
