Who uses .45 +P rounds for daily carry

I like a lighter, faster bullet so I use Speer Gold Dot 200gr +P JHPs for carry loads.


I started using them with a G36/G30 and HKUSPC and stayed with them with my current .45, a SA 1911.

I carry Speer Gold Dot 230 standard pressure in both Commander and Government Model.

i feel a .45acp 230gr bullet should be going at least 850 f.p.s., not less.
this is just what i feel comfortable with.

so in a short barrel .45acp gun, i carry the cor-bon 230gr. +p, it will still retain the proper velocity to reliabley expand.


in a longer barrel gun, standard pressure is fine as it will not loose that 75-100 or so f.p.s. like the shorter barrels do.

Custiom hand loads for concealed carry.

I have been using my own hand loads in my carry gun. I am questioning this practise. Would a DA use it against me? I don't need to make a bad situation worse. Can someone tell me the DA's point of view?

I am going to amend my original position. I carry 230 Cor-Bon +P in my Glock. I carry standard pressure ammo (Hydrashock 230 gr) in the P14-45. I do not want to mess with the springs in the 1911 because the SHTF pile is standard pressure ball.

I use the Taurus Hex. Go to ammolab.com and see why. Now Corbon is loading the same bullet and I'm certain they will soup it up. Why, there is no need.
