Who's hoarding up all...

Go to the Midway web site (or Grafs, or any of a dozen other web sites that sell primers).

order 5000 each of the primer sizes you actually use.

pay only one extra $20 fee.

problem solved.

make it a group buy if you don't want 5000 of each.

when you buy this kind of stuff 100 at a time, you get to pay a lot more, and you never have what you need when you want to reload.

IMO, it is better to have everything you might need on hand for the calibers you reload in, rather than having to run out to the gun store, GM, or whatever to try and find some at the last minute.

BTW, it is not unusual to be able to buy primers at gun shows for not a whole lot more than it costs you to buy them mail order, after you throw in shipping and hazmat fees.

It is also possible that your favorite dealer would order you an extra 5000 of a specific size for you when he makes his next order, and give you a bit of a break. Nothing to lose by asking.

I guess I am, too.

Kept pulling small pistol primers out the other day looking for small rifle primers. Found a part of a box of rifle primers. Around here large pistol and small rifle primers are hard to find, well winchester primers.

It is called a run on primers. It will stop when, either the manufacturers make more to meet demand or people gather their senses about them.
I don't think it is a run at all. Just that most retail stores no longer stock anything in any quantity anymore. The mail order places seem to have plenty.

ilbob you could be right but remember some politicians were trying to place a limit on citizens storing primers to one thousand. That can cause a run. Prices have been going up. Could be the price of metal... Who knows..

I bought a case of magtech small pistol for $89.95 last week, + $20 hazmat + $10 shipping = $120 or $24/1000.:D I bought them from Midway, btw.

Can't get what you want at Sportman's Warehouse

For everyone, everywhere who can't purchase the shooting supplies that you want at Sportsman's Warehouse, I found out the reason why. Their headquarters (so I was told) is in California. All you have to do is look at the insane gun laws originating in that state to see that many Californians don't exactly support the shooting industry. As a result, SW are not paying their bills to their suppliers (One bullet manufacturer that I spoke directly with said they refused to send another order until an unpaid $40,000 bill was taken care of.) and are not restocking their shelves. I suggest finding a company whose headquarters is in a more conservative (and therefore more supportive of the shooting industry) part of the country.

Same story in PDX...their reloading aisle almost looks like they're going out of business. No primers, very few lead bullets and many popular powders they are out of stock on. They said other stores (competitors) were having the same problem, but I didn't have a problem buying what I needed somewhere else locally. Too bad, they used to be my most reliable local store for reloading supplies.
