Do we need CCW

Tommorrow during your daily routine, take a look around at the people you see. How many of those can you honestly say have any common sense when it comes to firearms? I have seen enough yahoo's at the range to know that not everyone is ready/able to posses a firearm. I would love for there not to be any ccw permit, but i think mandatory training and skills assesment should be required for a national CCW, none of this can't go here, can go here, can't carry this that way in this state, but you can in that state.

I'm well aware of Federal Way's and King County's stances, however, not every LE agency in the state knows the law or interprets it differently. here's the guy i was talking about. http://fishorman.blogspot.com/2004_06_01_archive.html he eventually won his case and the conviction was dropped but look what he had to go through

The guy (from what he says) was in the right. But from what he said he didn't do anything to make the officer happy. Any time someone starts screaming about being harassed, giving smart Aleck remarks, and says this
I told him, "No, I don't need to calm down. I need to stop being harassed for a legal activity."
it doesn't do anything to keep the situation calm.

If the officer says "calm down sir." You say OK I'm sorry. You may not think that your are agitated but that is what is being perceived. The officer was trying to desolated the encounter and by saying "I don't need to calm down" You have re escalated.

I have never open carried (out side a gun range) but CCW often. If I do decide to open carry in side wal-mart or in the mall, I fully expect to be investigated for a legal activity. I realize that that sounds anti freedom or what ever but If I need to call the police on a bunch of people hanging out in the street in front of my house at 2am, I am happy to know that they will do it. Even if hanging out is a perfectly legal activity.

one extra thing I have thought about open carry. Dress like a off duty officer. Not just a basic t-shirt and shorts, but A button down shirt and slacks. I bet you would fit into that persona a lot better.

Everytime the politicians try to improve on what the Founding Fathers wrote, they just screw it up. There are zero restrictions per the Constitution. In my opinion, that is the way the Founding Fathers intended firearms to be. All one has to do to affirm my assertion is to look to Alaska. If I were incorrect, Alaskans would not do be allowed to do as they do.

As far as carrying rifles around. Yeah, I would love to, but just go ahead and try walking down the street with a rifle or shotgun slung over your shoulder. You'd get far more funny looks, and be harrassed by the cops a lot more than if you were open carrying a handgun.

M1 Shooter, I see you're in the Pacific Northwest. I'm in the South. I remember when I was waiting for my Garand to come in from CMP... my barber knew it and wanted to see it when I got it. So, after it came in, I wiped it down and made sure it went to town with my next time I got a haircut. I slung it over my shoulder with a clip of UMC FMJ's in my pocket, put on a big smile, and carried it right on into the barber shop. Even though this barber shop also has women's beauticians, nobody screamed or fainted. The attention it did get was quite positive. This could be because of the segment of the clientele present that day, or it could be the difference between your locale and mine.

I'm all for speech licenses. Several should be made available, one of which that would even allow more than one swear word in a sentence! Of course, the user must be approved by the local authorities after paying a suitable fee.

I'm for CCW permit, BUT my major issue are "shall issue/non-issue" terms. Why not a "MUST issue?"

Having a permit means you've gone through the neccessary legal process and proficient/mandatory training to possess a CCW permit. I wouldn't want a rookie/gangbanger/criminal record type carrying.

Count glockula? You can not have it both ways,,, sorry,,, is this a RIGHT, we are speaking of, or permission from the government in specific cases?

Two things you suggest,,, "proficient/mandatory training " all well and good until you get someone that insists you hit a bullseye at 100 yards with your concealed weapon,,,, oops,,, lets make that a one inch bullseye. (next qualification you may have to hit it three times in six seconds?)

Your second criteria? "rookie/gangbanger/criminal record"???? How criminal? a DUI? a domestic complaint? twenty years ago you got in a fight in a bar?

I do not agree with your point of view. You have allowed a line to be drawn in SAND. The line WILL move.

I like the line that our founding fathers used,,, "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" see below:)
