Why hasn't glock designed new guns? No Rifles? No micro 380 acp? No Revolvers?

As one of the most revered gun companies, it strikes me strange that glock hasn't designed a whole slew of firearms. All of the other big gun companies offer a whole array of different weapons. Glock only has one gun in a few sizes and many calibers. Ruger, S&W, H&K, Taurus, Springfield all design rifles and a several styles of handguns. Where's our glock 9mm Carbine? How about a glock 223 M4? Where on earth is the Glock Micro diamnodback / lcp / keltec style 380 CCW weapon? What gives?! It makes me think maybe they are just a one hit wonder... i mean wonderNINE. :neener: If they are just content to rest on their laurels that is a red flag to me that glock is far from "Perfection".

The U.S. Importing points system puts a stop to glocks 380. I'd say they would have to change the design alot to import a mini 380

glock does make a 380 but they're LEO. they're in the model list in the manual. that aside, I would also love to see something "new" come from glock.

You do have to have a certain respect for a company that keeps costs in check and sticks to what they're good at.

Its kind of amazing when you think about the fact that for $500 we can buy a handgun that's as duty or combat worthy as ANYTHING else made at any cost.

Interesting.

I wanna say something about Import Laws, but don't quote me.
I'd buy a Glock compact singlestack 9mm anyday.

Until it starts hurting their sales they probably won't. And they seem to be selling just fine.

Glock seems to exemplify the old adage: do one thing and do it well.
Is simplicity not a part of perfection?

I think Glock should make a revolver just so that when newspapers say "glock revolver" they're accurate.

Because they don't have to. Glock already sells enough guns to remain profitable, they don't need any new innovations.

I wish more companies did what Glock does.

Make what you make best, and don't pretend to be best at things you're not.

Considering their guns cost them about $60 to make, and they sell for about $550, why would you change that? Adding in 65% of the LEO market, they have a nice current business model for profitability

I can see why they haven't made different types of handguns. I'd really like to see a Glock AR style carbine, though. I think it would fly off the shelves, too.

I've got the knife, nothing to write home about - just ok.
I've always wanted the shovel too - seems like an interesting piece.

Taurus is all over the map when it comes to quality, but they sure make a huge variety of guns with new models coming often. I'll stay with my Glocks.

If you want a carbine, or an AR, or wee itty-bitty little tiny gun that may or may not work but looks really cute and is light as a feather, then there are lots of choices out there.

If however you want a gun that actually works get a Glock.

A lot of companies are a jack of all trades master of none, Glock does one basic pistol design in various sizes and does it very well, at least they did until they decided to get fancy with the Gen 4s.

A lot of companies do have multiple good products, too though.

From what I hear, the Springfield M1A is pretty nice, and I love the XD.
I've heard great things about Ruger duty autos, and I like my LCP and my revolver. I've heard mixed reviews about Ruger rifles and some lemons in the LCR, though.
S&W is highly regarded for their revolvers, but I've heard lots of good things about both the pistol and rifle M&P series.
Not to mention Colt, which has made how many highly adopted military firearms?
HK, which IIRC is based somewhat close (globally) to Glock, is known for handguns, submachine guns, and rifles.

Honestly, just because Glock makes auto pistols well doesn't mean they can't make more money by expanding. Worst comes to worst, the Glock pistols still hold their share of the market and Glock rifles are just semi popular.

Odd, I missed the part of this thread when someone asked if you own one.

Do you think your post is more on topic than mine?

I was just giving my opinion.

I guess I could have said Glock does not need to make anything else because they are in the polymer frame semiautomatic pistol market. Hell, I shot one last Friday; I was very accurate with it (9mm). Still, I have never owned a Glock and I never will. YMMV. ;)
