Will accidentally firing a .380 ACP round through 9x19 Mm damage the gun?

So when the lugs break on an AR-15, what happens to the shooter? Does some heavy part come out the back or do other structures (hopefully) protect them? I have to say that picture with the two cutaways in the barrel is really interesting...

When AR lugs break it is typically one or two. The action may continue to operate with cracked lugs or if something comes off or moves enough the action jams. I haven't seen any total ar bolt failures where all lugs sheared.....FWIW

Recall that the bolt sits in carrier, guided by the upper right down the stock tube, with a spring and buffer to boot. Unlike a bolt action, the bolt vector isn't pointed at your face, but at your shoulder. That's got to count for something.

Here's how:
In words: The 30 cal projectile is not going into the throat, or at least not as far as its full diameter. Instead, the ogive of the .30 cal bullet lands on the shoulder of the chamber - right where a .223 shoulder would land for proper headspacing. Because the brass is shorter, the bolt can still close, and the firing pin can still pop the primer.

This is why I decided not to do a .300Blk. Went with a .458SOCOM instead.

I've fired 9x18 Makarov's in my G17 with no problem. Just 1mm short.

Well a mm short and the bullets are .365, not .355 in diameter. That could be dicey.

That was my thought when I read that post. Franky, I am surprised 9x18 would even chamber. They are visibly bigger around than 9x19 or 9x17.

Long story short a friend and I were shooting a LCP and Glock 19 over the weekend and I made a very stupid mistake and accidentally put a single round of .380 FMJ through my Glock 19. It fired but failed to eject and I didn't see any(noticeable) damage. I definitely learned a lesson and will no.longer have similar caliber guns and ammo out at the same time when shooting. Is my G19 safe to shoot again or would this need to be inspected further?
I reload and somehow a 380 loaded (don't load them) got through and was shooting a 1911 (9mm). Fired fine, barrel was fine and I only noticed because the case slipped off of the extractor and the next round wouldn't chamber. Just needed a slight push with a cleaning rod to get it out. BTW, as someone who reloads a lot of 9 and uses range pickup brass, I really hate 380's.

... and this is why I refuse to own any .380, or 9mmX18mm, gents.

I have shot close to 20k rounds of 40S&W in a 10mm Auto chamber with no issue. It was a S&W 610 revolver but the chamber is the same as your auto loader minus the rifling not staring tiill you get to the barrel.
It is never recommended to shoot anything other than one specific caliber in an autopistol chamber. That restriction does not always apply to revolvers.

For example, S&W manuals allow shooting 40S&W in a 10mm chamber but ONLY in revolvers.

Here's an excerpt from the S&W revolver manual:
Additional ammunition calibers can be fired from the following list of select calibers.
Caliber on Barrel----- Can also Fire
.45 Colt------------------.45 Schofield, .45 S&W .45 S&W .45 Schofield
.44 Magnum-----------.44 Special
.357 Magnum---------.38 Special, .38 Special +P
.22LR-------------------.22L, .22 Short, .22CB, .22BB (in revolvers only)

10mm------------------.40 S&W (in revolvers only)

I found these at the range the other day. 9mm evidently fired in a .40S&W.

[sorry, posted wrong picture to begin with. now corrected]
