Will powder & primers go bad in cold?

I moved 2 years ago and put all my reloading equipment, dies, reloaders, primers and powder into boxes and stored in a friend's barn. I didn't think I'd be here this long, but I'm still here.

My question is this: Midwest winters, most of the powder is new and unopened, but many of the primer boxes aren't sealed from atmospheric conditions. They've been through 2 hot summers and 2 cold winters.

When I get all of it set back up again, should I expect failures from primers and bad powder? Thanks in advance.

The trouble with temperature swings is it caused condensation which would ruin the powder if it were to get into the jugs. As long as no moisture got into the powder or primers they should be fine. If temperature alone ruined powder there would be a lot of bad ammo around the world. Hopefully the seals did their job...

One of the biggest reloading supply dealers in this area of Kansas runs his business out of a dirt floor Butler building with no heat or A/C.

Temperture here can run from well below zero to well above 100 degrees.

If the powder containers are sealed, they should be good.

Humidity won't hurt primers as they are wet putty when they make them. Just be sure they are up to room humidity levels before you use them.

I store my stuff out in my shop or another building.
I have Reddot and 209 primers that have been out there for 20 years and they still work.

That sounds like my kinda place rc. Care to share location?

have a reloading shop. only type of climate control is space heater on when I'm out there in the winter. otherwise it sits thru sub 20's winters and 90+ summers. going on 25 years.no problems yet. jwr
