- Willy and the Poor Boys [1969]; Creedence Clearwater Revival

It is February in the South and has turned into a really nice day, temperatures reached 72* F.

A much need break in the weather , after tornados devastated a few days ago.

4 kids, live in an area not affected like some. They have done a great job of getting some old clothes, and toys and buying new items for Relief efforts.
They also chipped in and got their homes and yard all cleaned up too.

Kids are kids, it is a nice day, and they want to cook on the grill and mess around.

Now they have been around shooting since they were born, they do shoot and ...well...they did get some new water pistols while out shopping.

They also remember lessons from using a garden hose to replicate so much of what shotgunning is about.

Gun games in the back yard *grin*

Pistols are water pistols, Rifles are garden hose sprayer set to stream, and shotgun set to *snicker* "buck shot or slugs depending on presentation".

Ain't kids great! *lol*

They know the Safety Rules and get some stages set up.
Adults are going to sit on the back porch and watch.
Oh, and blow a coaches whistle and maybe remember to look at a second hand on a watch.

Crank up CCR and let the kids "churn 'em and 'burn 'em"

Of course an adult, will get dragged out to play, and other adults are worse than kids with "I wanna play too" with pitiful faces.

Kids, are kids, and they are not dumb. A mom is running the pistols, snags the "shotgun" and that kid back at the faucet...shuts off water.

Moms are moms, they know about transitioning, just pick up the bucket of water used to fill the water pistols.

"MoOOM!"
"Oh shut up, nobody said I could not use a cannon on a stage".

Responsible firearm ownership sometimes means taking time to be a kid, no matter what age one is.

Use Enough Sprayer

Yeah - 73 deg in bright sun on Galveston. My place warmed up to almost 80 as I REFUSE to put my a/c on in Feb. Looks like we've finally broken the back of winter and its all downhill here. Good day to go to Seawall and just start DRIVING south along the coast.

Winter? I enjoy our two seasons -- summer, and not summer :) Four months of not summer is about as good as it gets.

hmmm.... last week it was -16f and a 25 mph wind, 8f last night with 45 mph wind, 72 does sound good! uspsa shooting starts in 2 weeks:D

Seriously

Shotgunning is very well shared with new folks using a garden hose with a trigger sprayer.
If littler hands, use the twist type, goal is lessons and understanding patterns, choke, moving targets and all.

Shotgunning : The Art & Science by Bob Brister
Is highly recommended by me and others.

Read the book, and use the garden hose. It really does assist and it really does go a long way in sharing shotgunning to folks be they kids or older folks new to shotguns.

Steve

Oh,THAT Willy & the Poor Boys. Heck, i thought you were talking about Rolling Stones' bass player Bill Wymans' solo venture back in the 80's with Andy Fairweather Low.
P.S. Now that you mention it, it WAS pretty nice down here in Dixie today, wasn't it?

OK, I'm throwing snowballs at all you clowns....

It is 3 Degrees (F), roads are icy, and snowing like mad in/around Greater Cleveland, wind chills well below zero...Can you say change clothes using an ice-pick?

Oh yeah, I'm loading the snowballs in a "Trebuchet" (sp??)

Once again, Steve, taking ordinary things water hoses, squirt guns, etc, and turing them into training time, albeit with a LOT of Sport & Good Times mixed in.

You COULD do that here today, but you would be throwing ice balls and icecicles

-16f up here this am. H2O expands when it freezes, and it does so rather quickly at these temps, so we keep our squirtguns and hoses inside for the winter. I did 27 years in the South. I figure I gave it an honest shot; it just wasn't working out. For me, 4 months of chilly-to-cold weather is worth not having to put up with April through September 90's plus, and humidity. Downside is, my local range (outdoor) is closed from mid November until some time in April. ...you can rest assured that my guns are all shiny-clean tho.

Throw?
Nuh-uh, not me, that is what sling shots are for.
Focus on target, not the gear and let the bodies natural eye-to-hand coordination skills sets do their thing...

Distance is your friend...
Using cover and concealment...

"Mrs. Foggy, we need to talk about your boy, seems he is slipping a bit with all this".

*wink*
