Remington hull are loading great in my MEC JR. BUT, when reloading Winchester AA's the hulls wrinkle. The AA hulls appear to have a higher crimp line. Any suggestions?

Most all Remington Gun Club hulls were six petal crimps, last I checked, and Win AA were eight pedal crimps. I assume that either you have 8 petal Gin Clubs or that you're changing the crimp starter?

Thanks for your reply. Both hulls are 8's. I'm not sure if the height differences (where the hull actually folds over) makes the AA's bulge, or if changing the final crimp height would make a difference. The old AA's (the old red ones) seem to be the best and the gray ones are terrible. Any suggestions are welcome.

If you look inside of the new AA shells, you will find that they are now two piece construction. The Gun Clubs are still one piece.

Sometimes the wad will hit the base wad in the AA hull causing trouble.

Yes, different hulls require different wads and/or different seating pressures. I've also found that different hulls require different final crimp settings, to set the proper amount of crimp depth.

Any suggestions as to what wads work best with AA's? I have been using Claybuster.

Gun Clubs are EIGHT petal and work great. They use the exact same data as Nitros and STS. The issue with Win AAs is the height of the hulls varies just enough that you will need to sort by height and the adjust your pre crimp and final crimp accordingly..........................or you do like most of us, and only use Remington for 12 and 20. The opposite seems to be the deal with 28 and 410.

Any suggestions as to what wads work best with AA's? I have been using Claybuster.

ClayBuster or Downrange are two of the better makers out there. I reload both 12 and 20 using 3/4 oz. Gets me 533 loads from a bag of shot and crush sporting clay targets with ease, even the far ones.

Some of the Remington game loads are six point crimp. They look just like the gun club trap load but are one ounce loading and higher velocity.

Just found a couple of them, donated to the trash.

I have found Federal top guns with paper base wad and eight point crimp.

Game loads, for some odd reason, use the same load data and all else, yet they gave them a 6 point crimp. If you are using a MEC, changing out the 8 for a 6 point is no big deal, but a nuisance when you let one get by.
