Weather broke today so got to the range for first sight-in of my new Model 70 .308 (Leupold VX 3i 3.5-10x40 with Leupold 2pc. (std) base and rings) Took 4 rounds to get on paper at 1” high at 100 yards; my next 5 rounds were at 1” high, dead center with all rounds touching - I am very, very impressed with this rifle - WOW! Recoil was abrupt .308ish but felt rather tolerable, trigger was (guess?) right at about 4# (a tad heavier than I like) but was very smooth and crisp. I was shooting cheapo WW 150 grain “white box” factory ammo; I am convinced that skilled, younger eyes would have shot a tighter group. Great rifle! Also, the Leupold scope adjustments were mathematically spot on - click count and direction matched exactly to the needed POI moves. (Ps, I will be glad to post photos of the rifle and my range target if someone will walk me thru the photo posting process - thanks)
