Oh, well, great, everyone hates on the 1400 now.
I bought mine in 1988 from Walmart. I've been shooting it ever since. I used it as a dove gun, mostly, but since getting my 20 gauge SxS (the 1400 is a 12), I've mostly shot it on ducks with 2 3/4" number three steel shot. It's a soft shooter and fits me perfectly without shims.
I guess i don't have to worry about you all stealing any of my shotguns. LOL Nobody seems to like any of 'em. Good for me, I suppose. I'd have probably bought that 20 gauge on the spot, been thinkin' about an auto in 20 and I love how soft the 1400s shoot and how well they fit out of the box.
I had one part break in those 26 seasons, going on 27. It broke the finger lever thing that you used to pull the bolt back. There was just a metal stub sticking out where it had been. I found a new part, new production aftermarket, on the numrich arms web site and ordered it and fixed it myself. I could have used it as was, but it was kinda hard on my finger to pull the bolt back. If it ever breaks and I can't fix it, heck, I got 27 (after this season) seasons out of it. I paid $255 for the thing brand new, ain't like I have much in it anyway. I'll fall back to my Mossbergs everyone loves to hate if that happens. Plenty of parts available if anything ever breaks on those.
And, well, I need a good reason to buy a 930.
