I just did a full restoration on Grampas old winchester 1897. It’s a family heirloom so I took it all the way apart and slow rust blued everything. I’m having trouble with the hammer stirrup not staying in the mainspring after the hammer falls. I can’t get the carrier back in the receiver without the hammer falling. What am I doing wrong? thanks

I need to do your project, but haven’t gotten there yet. Have you been to Marauder’s webpage? And there are at least two YouTube videos about assembly/disassembly

I've been all over YouTube (that's what got me into this mess) Ill check out marauders post if i can find it.
If I can offer you any advice, there are like 67 parts on Numrichs parts list page. I had to deal with like all of them in one way or another. How they engineered those tiny little screws 130 years ago is beyond me.
