$1000 for a post 64 non CRF gun in an odd caliber is alot of money IMHO. If the sentimental value isn't there for you then id sell it in a heartbeat.

I had a model 670 in 1978 in 225 cal and it was a deadly little gun to 300 yds if I did my part. Sold it around 1980.

The current issue of the Blue Book Of Gun Values lists a new-in-box M-70 Winchester in .225 at $1,200. Winchester made only a few rifles in .225 caliber, hence the reason they have a collector's of upwards of twice as much as other post '64 M-70s in standard calibers. The Blue Book tends to to be rather conservative in their evaluations, with guns typically actually selling for more than listing price. If you consider selling your rifle don't be shy about asking $1,500.

There have been several 70s in 225 offered on Gunbroker and few of them have commanded prices over $1000. There's one on there now for $700. Occasionally heavy barrels have gone for over $1000; one that did is a heavy barrel with breathtaking wood.
