Hi all,

I want to buy a winchester 30-30 model 94 ranger. I knew that winchester have been sold to browning. So, the question im asking is do they still give constumer service on waranty?? is the 30-30 winchester a good rifle?? And im a clean freak, when i take my gun to the range field i like to clean it every time i got back home. I know that the 30-30 barrel cannot go out without a gunsmith so can i clean inside the barrel without taking it out?? if so would the gun power go in the receiver??

thank all for info.

If your a clean freak you'd appreciate how easy a Marlin takes down.

One screw and off pops the lever and out slides the bolt.

Winchester services their products from the old New Haven plant (1300s, 94s & 70s if I'm not mistaken) out in Utah......most likely a Browning facility.

Sent a NIB 1300 with an out of skew vent rib out there last summer. After only 14 weeks, they sent it back to me in exactly the same condition. Didn't do a darn thing to it.

Can you say, full refund please. Which is exactly what I got from the dealer I bought it from...who was even more flaberghasted than I was.

My understanding is yes warranty is still being honored. Yes the model 94 is a good rifle. Its very reliable, and rugged, effectively accurate. Chance of needing a warranty repair is almost zero, but things do happen. As far a cleaning, there is no good reason to fully disassemble the rifle to clean it. In fact you will likely do more harm then good. At most I would remove the screw on the mag tube, remove end plug and run a patch and brush down the magazine every so often. Otherwise just clean from the muzzle with the action open, and while holding it upside down give it a blast of your favorite spray type gun cleaner.....I recommend any brand that says "wont harm plastics" ect, ect....When its clean lube lightly...

If you are worried about cleaning it, take the wood off and soak it a parts cleaner overnight. The next day rinse it off with hot, soapy water then dry and spray oil all over it. When dry, put the wood back on and use'er for another hundred years.

Don't concern 'bout a Marlin, they won't last long enough to worry 'bout it.

You can clean from the breech to the muzzle by using a boresnake. Or get a bore guide and clean from the muzzle. If you need warrenty work, Winchester should honor it, but it is mentioned that thier customer service is crap.

Either the Win. 94 or the Marlin are good guns, but the Marlin is a better rifle in my opinion. They build them right and not for the name. Also, the Marlin doesn't have the top eject and is easier to mount optics if that is your desire.

i have had my winchest 94 ranger for over 17 years now. i have put several thousand rounds through it. cleaning is no problem. you dont need to take it apart. you dont need to worry about it. first thing i do is use some carb cleaner in and around the chamber. then go through the barrel with some hoppes until i can put a clean patch through it. then light oil it up. i have a scope mounted on mine. :neener: :neener:

oh about the warranty and who can fix it.

who cares.

if it doesnt break and has never had a sign of breaking after several thousand rounds. who cares. this rifle will still be around after i am burried 6 feet under. look at all the 8 million winchester made. if you take care of them. you wont need to worry about a gunsmith. there are rifles from the 1800's still being used today.

As for the Marlin. i have a few marlin .22. however for lever action i will stick to winchester. side by side. i have always like the look of a real lever action winchester. the marlin just never has cut it for me. same time chevy designed the 350cid if i want a car with a 350cid i will buy a chevy not a pontiac. so with that cheers for the winchester 94

too bad winchester lost thier minds and the company really sucks now.
