When did the post 64 model 70 Winchesters switch from a 2 piece floorplate to a 1 piece plate?

I am looing for a replacement stock for my 1968-69ish winchester. I have noticed some talk about a 1 or 2 piece plate. Some talk about the stock having a step in it around the trigger guard.

Any info?

I believe you are talking about one-piece and two-piece bottom metal. With the two-piece bottom metal, the trigger guard and floorplate are separate pieces. This is the way Model 70's were made for many years. I think FN has recently moved to the one-piece design for the Model 70. In any case, you can buy a quality one-piece design from http://www.williamsfirearms.com. Hope that helps.

Some of the last Winchesters had 1 piece bottom metal. CDNN recently had a bunch of stocks advertised as post 64. I ordered 2@ $89.99. I got an e-mail from them advising me that they had incorrectly described them and they would only fit 2002 and newer rifles. I assume the change was made in 2002.

Does anyone know how the stocks are different on the bottom for a one piece or 2 piece bottom metal?
