So all the ammo companies have their top brand for pistol defense:
Federal - HST
Speer - Gold Dot
Remington - Bonded Golden Sabre
Hornady - XTP or TAP
Corbon/Barnes - DPX
anyway, Winchester has the Ranger and also a Ranger T? They seem to like putting them in almost identical boxes as well with only a slight variation in product code to tell the 2 apart. My point is WHY? I got a couple boxes of Winchester Ranger 155gr .40 and they sure as heck aren't the good kind. I shot water jugs the other day (yeah, I know this is not a real test of a bullet's potential for defense purposes) and the 3 Rangers had complete jacket separation without a lot of expansion either. The 230 DTGD .45, 124+p 9mm Gold Dot and 124 HST all came out looking just as advertised. I guess I wasn't going to use the .40 for carry or home defense anyway and I was pretty sure they weren't the good ones when I bought them for $12/50, but why can't Winchester be a little more clear?

PS. I think I remember my 230gr .45 Winchester JHP wallyworld specials performing better than this when killing water.

All Ranger ammo is restricted sale by the company. There is a hugh line of Ranger products. They all have the same box.

Federal has also changed their Tactical line and put the Bonded, HST,Power Ball, and Hydra-Shock in the same box.
