Winchester vs Rossi.. Help me choose

Looks like I'm going with a 20' Rossi 92 with a round barrel. The Winchester was just too pretty (and too expensive). I can take the Rossi out in the field and not worry too much about making sure the rifle stays pristine. Going to look at them tomorrow. Will post pics when I get it. Thanks.

If you decide to install a scout scope, these people are the best game in town right now for a scope mount, Rossi seems to have discontinued production of theirs:

I have some of the Miroku Winchesters and they are beautifully made rifles and require no modifications to shoot comfortably. The Rossi, on the other hand, is in need of attention right out of the box. Cut a couple of coils on the mag tube and replace the yellow plastic crap follower with a original Win or newly made replacement. The loading port normally will require removal of the sharp edges and then there is the silly safety on top of the bolt which can be replaced with a plug to return the smooth lines.
The large loop looks classy but for fast use of the rifle it stinks and a regular lever is much faster to fire a cycle for the next shot (as in cowboy shooting). Today's Rossi is much improved but still requires disassembly and stoning the internal parts for a smooth action.

I have 4 R92s. Like them all. Needed a little work out of the box, but it makes for a relaxing evening of tinkering. Now they are all a lot slicker than my '41 Win 94. Cheap enough that I'm not afraid to take them out to the woods.
