it is a copy of the Toz , with the winny name on it. you can usually find the toz at a gunshow for about 150 bucks. Either way, there is a lot to like. very accurate, comes with 4 or 5 magazines, has a sloped mag holder, so it is easier to one hand carry. Wood can look funny, and you can have some terrible inletting done, like a kid with a butter knife did it. But all in all, proly as good a value, and as accurate, as a marlin 981, but with multiple mags.

I've seen them around at local gunshops. I have been thinking they would make really good starter guns for my kids this Christmas.
The latest NRA American Rifleman has a quick 2-3 page write up on them, they do seem accurate enough.

I bought one for my first rifle. The fit and finish are lacking, but for $250, it is satisfactory.
Accuracy is good, though I'm no sharpshooter.
If I could do it over again and I could find a TOZ, I would probably do that because they are cheaper, but the Winchester's are probably easier to find.
The sights and stock are different on the Winchester than the TOZ. I like the stock. The sights are not great, but about par for the course.
Overall I'm happy very happy I chose it as my first rifle.

Nice little shooter.
I looked one of these over at the local big box Gander Mtn. I was interested since I like Tula's milsurp stuff, I wanted to see what their modern stuff looked like.
After hearing so much about the finish being so-so, I was impressed when I had it in my hand, I thought it looked really nice, on par with the other .22 bolts in it's price range. The only thing I noticed was the checkering was not so fine.
What will keep me from buying one though is that it is kind of small. Kind of between a "youth" sized gun and a full size. If I had kids I would pick one up instantly, I would imagine they'd get a lot of mileage out of it. But for me, too small.

.22 sporters are my prime shooting interesting. I had a chance to acquire a Winchester Wildcat about a month ago. A friend had purchased one and decided the rifle was simply too small for him to use comfortably in CMP Sporter competition. I traded him a Savage Mk II (I may get another one sometime that has the new AccuTrigger) for it. The Winchester was basically still new in the box.
I have had two range sessions with it and here are some pros and cons:
PROS
1. photographs well
2. fairly accurate (50 yard groups)
3. comes with one five and three ten shot magazines and they are very easy to handle and load and insert - unlike the two that came with my $600 Kimber Hunter
4. very handy
5. finally found a rifle that is scaled for my great little Weaver 2.5-7X28 Rimfire Classic scope
CONS
1. the barrel channel presses the barrel for two inches on the right and does not touch it at all on the left
2. the rifle takes some real ummph to cycle and its not that the action is rough - it is quite effortless unloaded - it has to do with how tightly the cartridges are held in the magazine combined with the rifles light weight - you have to work the bolt snappily and with considerable force with one hand and arm while you have to hold the dinky little rifle down with your other hand and arm against tugs of working the action - actually, my petite daughter and I got pretty good at this at our second range session which was spent mostly shootng at steel spinners and plates offhand - bottom line if you try to work the bolt slowly or gently the rifle tends to misfeed
3. yes its handy but it is simply too little for best shooting by the average or larger size man

you're right, it is the TOZ; I thought about going back and changeing it, but I thought, no one is really gonna catch that type-o here!!! I underestimated my

the winny doesnt have express sights? Damn , that's a shame, i would get a toz then, just for the express sights....

The Wildcat is the TOZ with a flashier stock, a higher price tag, and a non-adjustable trigger. Get the TOZ if you can find one.

I got a Toz about a year and a half ago and really like it - I paid $175 at a gun show and then I found it on Centerfire for $99. Haven't seen any recently so the supply might have dried up. The only thing I really don't like about it is that the magazines are plastic. I've tried looking for replacements and they can't be found - so be careful with your mags.
I picked up one of the Toz 78-01 back when Centerfire had them for $100. Amazing rifle in terms of trigger adjustability, and accuracy. Sucks really bad on the finish and fit catagories. Looks almost like a 7 year old tried their hand at refinishing the wood.
But being that I am a man who is more concerned with function over form, I really love my Toz. With el cheapo fedreal bulk pack I can keep it around 1" at 50 yards. It does much better with match ammo-
