Dang, if WI gets CCS, Illinois will be the last state left standing without something on the books.

IL has 'something on the books'--NO NO NO NO!!! We know what is better for you..

IL is screwed, they're not going to get it, doesn't matter who the governor or da mayor is because they're all the same. If you live in IL and want to carry, just move, it's the only way. The political parties in that state don't matter, whoever gets elected is a product of the machine and they will fall in line with the machine.

Recent governor election was a set back. However Chicago's ban on guns was done away with and Mayor Daley is on his way out. We are closer. Don't try to demoralize us please.

Edmond - you apparently don't live in IL, but those that do and who have been following know that there are grumblings going around. People are organizing meetings to talk about guns and concealed carry. The grass roots are growing, and when WI passes their version (hopefully constitutional carry) I believe the residents in IL will have had enough.

If cuba can cut it's socialist workforce in favor of the free market, IL can get CCW.

Anything short of constitutional carry is a win for the anti-gunners! I personally will NEVER pay for a God-given right. Currently illegal possession of a firearm is a misdemeanor in Wisconsin. I know one of the last shall-issue bills was going to bump that to a felony! Yet a lot of people wanted the bill passed. I will just continue to risk the misdemeanor until constitutional carry is recognized in Wisconsin.

An admirable position, but demanding constitutional carry is a good way to get nothing. The hidden trick on open carry becoming a felony is known and it isn't going to happen IF all the lawful gun-owners write and ask for the law to be like Kansas, Alaska, Arizona and other shall issue states where open carry is legal. [Kansas is still in the process of tuning the law, soon cities will no longer be able to ban loaded open carry, but it takes time. Just a few years ago we were worried about no carry at all.
The problem is that if the law says you can carry without a license and you're openly carrying; there will be calls to 911 from the sheep. If a cop is sent to check on that "man with gun call" [probably will] and finds a 30 or 21 year old working family man/woman all you've done is waste some of the cops time.
If the 911 call goes in because a citizen sees a group of young men walking down the alley behind their home, the police and the home-owner voter doesn't know what to do except prepare for the worst and roll 4 cars.
If the group with the guns are free of any criminal record but are planning something illegal...

Anyway, right now, except for pizza delivery, you can open carry in Wisconsin because the state Supreme Court said you can. If you want to conceal, get a license and you can travel, walk near schools, etc. Only Illinois is a hold-out. I think by 2012 even Illinois will be shall issue.

Chicago population is down. Daley is out, Emanuel is out, downstate has voted for shall issue concealed carry, and they will have it before 2012 is over.

I really hope you're right, but recent actions by the Democratic governor and the Democratic legislators, who are almost universally opposed to 2A rights, indicate that they don't care much about popular opinion. Add to that the fact that there are plenty of Republican legislators who are tepid in their support of gun rights, and I don't see much of a chance within the time frame you predict.

Like I said, though: I hope you're right.

Illinois can sink into Lake Michigan for all I care. What a crappy state that just produces some of the scummiest people in this country.

I'm also glad the Bears lost. I love the fact that the Cubs SUCK also.

You people in Illinois should have never let Obama get to where he is at today. DAMN YOU ILLINOIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All or nothing usually gets you nothing.

Currently illegal possession of a firearm is a misdemeanor in Wisconsin.

No, illegal possession of a firearm is a felony. Illegally carrying concealed is a misdemeanor.

With Wisconsin on the verge of getting legal concealed carry, IL will stand alone in the country as the one place where there is no provision for concealed carry. I think the best we can hope for is a state law that allows individual counties to pass concealed carry laws. My guess is that every county other that Cook and possibly Lake and McHenry would pass concealed carry and that would give us all yet another reason for avoiding going to Chicago.

Passing the CCW in Wisconsin will finally give the citizens the right to carry out of Wisconsin. Giving us 100% of our rights.

Presently it is a patchwork possibility of reciprocal agreements and rather confusing to say the least.

Frank is referring to the protests being held because Gov. Walker is taking on the fat-cat unions. A lot of people are protesting in Madison, WI because the bill is going to be voted on today. I believe that Frank is suggesting that we mingle with the pro-big-government protesters, in order to draw attention to RKBA. I am forced to respectfully disagree with this idea. Especially since Gov. Walker said the Guard is on stand-by in case of a union revolt.
