I know this discussion has come up before. But I thought that things might be / would be easing up by now. I Was at the GS in Springfield today and noticed that Wolf 7.62x39 was basically no where to be seen. I got there around 11am and only one dealer I saw had any. I picked up 1k at a buck-forty. Anyone getting reports of / seeing any bulk amounts of this stuff? The other calibers were plentiful. Sucks for us Ak/SKS shooters. :cuss:

Ammo Brothers nearby has been out for awhile, and they specialize in such ammo. I'm stocking up when they get the next batch. But still, I can get individual boxes no problem from Turner's.

Don't know about Wolf, but Academy here in Houston has Monarch steel cased for $2.99 box every day, looks like they have all you could want.

At this weekends Wichita gunshow, they were selling Wolf softpoint 7.62x39 for $160 per thousand. Other dealers were generally selling the FMJ stuff at $4 per box. Not a lot to be seen.

Are people stockpiling 7.62x39mm ammo? I've been looking around online vendors and everyone seems to have a shortage of most brands of 7.62x39 not just Wolf.

is cheaperthandirt.com out of stock? You used to be able to get a thousand rounds (2 cases) for $120 total plus shipping for softpoints. Hollowpoints and FMJ are slightly cheaper. Anybody shoot that silver bear stuff by chance?

The Pasadena Gun Show near Houston had some this weekend. I was heading out of town right after or I would have posted it. All they had of Wolf was the hollow point though. Two different tables had it. $130 per 1000 at one and $140 at the other. One of the guys gets his ammo from Gulf Coast Ammo in Beaumont. I had talked to them and they had some soon after Christmas. The guy acted like he didn't have a whole lot.

One table had wooden crates of Russian 7.62X39 corrosive for about $160 or $170 for 1440 rounds. They were packed in 120 rd laminated paper sleeves that looked similar to Swiss 7.5 packing. That same guy had some PMC brass 7.62X39 for around $180 per case. I was just in there to get a case. I was debating getting the Russian stuff also, but I need to watch the money right now.

Another table had some match grade Silver Bear. I had to buy a few boxes just to see what the hell it was.

On a related note: One guy had a table selling Otis cleaning kits. I picked up one for my AR. My Hoppes Boresnake got its line cut when the bolt release was inadvertently hit. The Otis uses a cable. If I am not mistaken, this was the owner, but I didn't ask and cant' be sure. He was a good salesman. :)
