Wonder what 12ga breaching ammo looks like?

We had some back in the 80s it was a canvas sack with # 7 shot about an ounce and a half I believe they worked ok but a 1 ounce slug woulda done the same I think.

Pre framed charges or ad hoc?

Either or depending on the situation. You can actually use bags full of water to make a shape charge. Now if it was planned then we would make a shape charge using angle iron. And if it was a last minute mission we would either breech the doors using a shotgun or use an adhoc shape charge depending on the situation.

My Marine son tells me the training they experienced with the breeching rounds was to shoot right above or below the door latch at ~45 degree angle. The you were able to kick the door in. My guess is that may or not be possible if it is a metal industrial type door. Wooden or light metal clad domestic doors would be easier to breech.

That is where guys like me came in. If the door could not be breeched using normal tactics then we would blow the door or make our own.

well I have done “door breaching” with a concrete block.

Of course being Florida and a downstairs apartment the door was a glass “sliding patio door” The heat may have been a factor as we were dealing with a kitchen fire in an apartment with no one home…. amazing how many folks go off and leave a frying pan of grease on a hot burner. We popped the front door deadbolt and all with a short crow bar. Decided to try around back and thus found the sliding glass doors.

Saved the quadra-plex but that one apartment was ruined.

Never heard of making a shaped charge from bags of water. They would certainly work as tamping and so serve to direct some energy. Vilsek Demo course was however about five decades ago.

About that same time I was told to breech a 5cm oak apartment door in Germany in what I was told was a rescue. There was a slip lock and a dead bolt. I snap kicked with combat booted right foot just below the steel lock plate and we were in.

Oh FYI the source of many kitchen fires in college towns is new renters piling moving boxes on the stove. power is frequently off at move in and some times a burner controller is in an on position. Power comes on and a card board box full of Tupperware gets cooked until ignites.

Tell your college bound kids to not stack stuff on the stove!!!!! The landlord knows he will not be collecting for damage for the fire fighting from any government agency and will go for who ever’s name is on the lease, Mom and Dad.
