Woodsman 1st Series High Velocity vs. Std

Group: I have a 1937 Colt Woodsman Target .22 and need to know if it is designed for high velocity or standard ammo. I am aware that at some point the mainspring housing was redesigned to allow high velocity but don't when.

the site indicates Woodsman series began in "1932, 81000 to 86000: Phase in heat treated mainspring housing for high velocity ammunition. Grooved pattern for identification." Mine has the grooved pattern, so I assume it is safe for high velocity. As always, thanks for all the help on this forum, you folks are great, Bill

I'd stick with standard velocity for two reasons: 1.) on the whole, it's more accurate, and 2.) Woodsman parts are hard to find, and gunsmiths competent to work on them are even harder.
