So another thread made me think to ask this question. What is the worst trigger you have experienced on a carry gun. I believe the worst I have had was a Kel-Tec P-11. The trigger was about 8 1/2 pounds. It was a long trigger but it was catchy too. Once I got used to it the little pistol (I believe it was the smallest double stack 9mm available then) shot well. I carried it for a few years then I decided I wanted something nicer. I wound up giving it to a friend. So what was yours?

Well let's see. I've had a few.

Taurus 24/7 Pro compact - mile long trigger pull that is worse than the extra long trigger pull on my Kel-Tec PF9 and P3AT
Hungarian PA63 PPK clone chambered in 9x18 - I think the double action pull must be like 20 pounds! Okay maybe not that heavy but it is the heaviest double action trigger I have ever shot.

My Dad has a taurus 9mm maybe a g2c that is by far the worst I've shot. Bought it during the Obama panic. I'm not a taurus basher. I like taurus well enough. But that trigger is awful

I bought one of the first Beretta 92/96 vertec that came out. The da pull was so bad that many People who tried it gave up and assumed it was broken before they found the release point. These were leo, many of which had carried a Normal Beretta 92. The rest had carried a USP or a 226. All were familiar with DA/SA guns. Sa trigger actually was good. I traded it for an identical non vertec Beretta. That's the only vertec I ever saw so idk if they were all that bad. The gun ran flawless for a few thousand rounds though.

I’ve posted about the atrocious trigger on my AMT Back Up .380... it’s not measured in pounds and ounces, it’s measured in metric tons.

What makes it worse is there is nothing ergonomic about it, every edge is sharp, it won’t feed anything but FMJ (even those aren’t 100%) and the sights are so useless any shot further than 8 feet away is strictly by chance.

Stay safe.

Without a question the worst trigger I've ever experienced with a handgun was the H&K VP70Z.

In it's defense, it was designed as a machine pistol with 3-round burst capability when fitted with it's shoulder stock. It was also the world's first production polymer framed handgun...predating the Glock 17 by about 12 years

A close 2nd, was the AMT Backup in .45ACP...it was magnitudes worst than the .380 Backup

I have to agree with the above post on the P-64. It is the worst trigger pull on any gun I have ever owned. Probably time to get rid of it as I it just takes up space in the safe.

If you want to feel a bad trigger, look no further than the Taurus Poly Protector. 15+ lbs is my conservative estimate......if you can even get it to fire:what:

I had both the AMT back up .45 and the 380. Wow, did my trigger finger get strong from all the work it did. The .380 was just unreliable, but I had a gunsmith work on the .45 and he got the trigger down below 20 pounds! I think it was 15, actually. As long as you used FMJ ammo in it, it was 100% reliable. But it wasn't fun to shoot, and when an offer close to the money I paid for it came, off it went.

Yeah there have been a few that I have tried that had a truly atrocious trigger pull to them! A PA63, P64, KelTec PF9 and P3AT, and an AMT .380 Back-Up to name a few. But the hands down worst was a T Series Browning Hi-Power! Gorgeous on the outside but with a heavy as a sledge hammer trigger pull on the inside, this gun was literally off the charts when I tried to measure the trigger! This and those tiny sights both contributed mightily to the gun having Minute of Barn accuracy!

Pretty much any pistol based off the Walther PP/PPK will have a really heavy double action trigger pull. Yes the PP/PPK has a heavy double action pull too. The PA63 is still worse. Mine isn't bad when shooting single action and has decent accuracy for an old service pistol.

All of the small pocket pistols like the Kel-Tec PF9, P3AT, RUger LCP and Taurus versions will have long trigger pulls. It is just the nature of the design.

SCCY CPX-2, modeled after or cloned from the P-11. It came gritty, heavy, and long, with a very weak reset. Breaking the edges of the stamped parts and some synthetic gun grease fixed the grittiness. An additional turn of the trigger return spring improved the reset.

And the DA pull of my PPK, smooth but beyond heavy. But it only matters 1/7th of the time.

S&W Bodyguard 380....heavy, long, not smooth....

not a carry gun, the old Ruger Police Carbine 40....makes the Bodyguard feel like a target 1911....

well I hate to add the CZ 75B as it's my favorite semi platform, but the trigger on the full size is atrocious. I've felt worse da pulls, but the 75 trigger is so curved it actually hurts my finger. Don't find it so on my compact 75 D. It's an easy fix, the B gets converted to sa only and everyone is happy.

A Wolff hammer spring will make it feel like a different pistol. DA will go from unbearable to merely heavy. SA will be delightful.

It'll still be a heavy carry pistol, but well-made and accurate. I like mine.
