Picked up a kind of beat up wyoming arms 10 mm s/s pistol called the parker at a local pawn shop this week. Got it at a steel, only reason I picked it up. Of course, as usual, leap before you look. I can't find out much about it other than they were only made for about 3 years. Looked at Gunparts website and also called them, they don't have any parts or breakdown. I need the recoil spring, slide will not return all the way to battery after firing. Also, need the spring that goes under the ejector. I made one from the spring from a ball point pen and it works but would like to get the correct spring :). I may be able to go to a local gunshop and see if they might have a recoil spring that will match up. If anyone has a parts breakdown or information about parts it would be much appreciated. The pistol has cleaned up very nicely, now to just getting it to work properly. Guess I'm kind of like Will Rogers, except guns instead of people. Never meet one I didn't like, just some better than others. We will see how this one works out. ;)

Thanks,
Ron

Let me know if/when you get interested in selling!

I've got another orphan 10mm, the Megastar, and I've been curious about the Parker.

The really excellent Bren Ten site has some info on the Parker:

The Wyoming Arms Parker is a single action gun somewhat similar to a 1911 Government Model. One major difference, however, is that the Parker has a slide mounted rather than frame mounted manual safety. The Parker can still be carried with the hammer cocked and the safety engaged, but the slide can still be operated so it can't truly be considered "cocked-and-locked" when in this mode. The gun's finish is stainless steel with the flats on the slide brushed while the rest of the gun is bead blasted to a matte gray. The 10mm Parker was available in three barrel lengths including a fixed sighted 3-3/8" gun, a 5" fixed sighted version and a 7" model with adjustable sights.

I think a 7" 10mm would be really interesting - I wonder how much more MV you could get with slow powders?

Finally added a Wyoming Arms Parker to the collection.

I've been wanting to add a Wyoming Arms Parker to my 10mm collection for some time now. Not because it's some fantastic, finely built, beautiful piece of steel, but simply because it's an out of production 10mm. The 5" version is probably the most common and you can usually find a few on the internet, but I was holding out for a NIB example (since I probably wouldn't be shooting it). Well I finally found one and it's even the more rare 7" version with adjustable sights. I tried to whittle the guy down on the price for a couple months, but he wasn't budging so I ended up paying $450 for the gun, original box, factory manual and one mag. I have to say that this is one ugly gun! The sights (Millets I believe are high and very visable, but the gun is so loose I doubt you could get any reasonable accuracy out of it. You might be able to keep a few shots on a paper plate at 25 yards, but I couldn't imagine trying to make a hit on a deer out at 50 to 75 yards. All in all though I'm satisfied. I wish I could have gotten it cheaper, but I think the price was fair considering it's NIB condition and the fact that it is the rarer 7" version. I look at it as an itch that I've finally scratched and now it's time to start saving for the next 10mm!

Because the Wyoming is a kind of a maybe improved clone of a COLT 1911 has anyone LISTED the INTERCHANGEABILITY OF COLT PARTS ,SPRINGS, MAGS, ETC. If someone had a Colt and a Wyoming and did some switching it might be very helpful to the people with a Wyoming and no source of parts. It's also one of those things that makes you wonder " does it or doesn't it fit?"

It does look remarkably like the AMT automags, doesn't it. Can anyone shed light on this resemblence? I know nothing about these Parker pistols, and my curiosity is piqued.

I lived in Thermopolis, WY for quite a number of years, but before Wyoming Arms started up. At this late date, I just cannot remember names for this process, but the families at AMT were related to the Wyoming Arms families, when WA was in WY. I also do not, because of the time frame, know when AMT ceased and took the technology to WY.

Thermopolis was also the home of Bob Milek. You just couldn't know nicer people than Bob and his family. That is in contrast to Elmer Keith, whom I met thanks to Bob. Elmer was a jerk. 'Nuff said.

Thanks for all the reply's, especially the schematic. Looks like they may have done away with the recoil guide rod on the Parker that I have. Or maybe someone has changed it. This one only has a end cap and only goes into the spring about a half inch. I went to a local smith and got a spring that goes under the ejector and after a little cutting it down it works fine. I haven't had much time to play with it but I did run one mag through it and seems to be working ok. Hope to get back out soon and run more ammo through it.

thanks again,

Ron

my name is josh and i am a personal friend of the main pistol designer greg market, i will talk to him the next time i see him and see if he has any spare parts left over after he clesed the doors. he still runs a machine shop in the same building and i grew up with his son and have known greg for over 15 years. lemme know if your interested or i wont waste my time.

While I think it's an interesting collector piece (geez I hate it when people do this) I haven't heard any good things about the WA 10mm. Other than an interesting concept with the safeties, or lack thereof, it seems like the gun has a reputation of being somewhat quality control challenged. But as sure as I'm sitting here somebody is going to post that they have one and it's never failed to function after 50,000 rds through it. Best gun they ever owned. I think there's a reason these are going so cheaply.
At first glance the grips reminded me a bit of a Colt Double Eagle but it does much more closely ressemble an AMT. And before I sound any more snobbish just let me say I'm all for cheap shooters.

Gentlemen -

On the Gunbroker.com Forums recently, I posted several times...asking if anyone else had seen or heard of another Handgun like mine:

**(Wyoming Arms Parker Stainless Steel .40 Caliber, with a 3 3/8" Barrel)**

My most recently posted Topic Thread "Very Rare SHORTY FORTY.." ruffled a few feathers....but quite a bit of decent Wyoming Arms Parker info was submitted....(including the links already shown here).

Tips from a couple of great GB Forum Members lead me here to this thread... regarding millman85's mention of Greg Market. (I've got a private message to Josh pending here...)

After THOUSANDS of views (total) on several Firearms Forums in the last three weeks or so.....still no reports of another W/A Parker .40 with the SHORT 3 3/8" Barrel...

I won't stop lookin' until I find info on at least a few more of 'em....however long that takes.

Just wanted to share the info with you guys. I DO keep pretty up to speed on Google, Online Auctions, etc....so no other info is requested (by me) at THIS time regarding Wyoming Arms...**(UNLESS it might lead me to another ".40 Parker Shorty" like mine).

The generally "weak" OVERALL performance reputation of the company is pretty widely reported......consequently, the Parkers seem to currently be valued primarily as "Collectors", and not as "Shooters".......

That's cool with me....My Sig P229 picks up the slack just fine in that department...

Thanks

ZW

Had the 3 3/8 in .45 sometime around the mid '90s and IIRC had recurrent feeding problems. I sold it. I think I have the original manual lying around somewhere.

Gevarm - Thanks for the response...If you run across that manual later, maybe you could let me know if it's specific only to the .45, or if one manual covered all of the Parker Handguns....

If the W/A Parker manuals were non-specific, then I might be interested in the one you've got....if you ever decide to part with it...

Thanks agan, pd

Hey Gevarm...I've had that link for awhile, but never zeroed in on the contents of the manual...

Just checked the first page...looks like one manual "fits all"...

Thanks for prompting me to look a little closer...(I've been so focused on LOCATING another ".40 Parker Shorty" that I haven't gotten into too many of the other Parker details...)

If anyone knows where I can obtain a physical copy of one of these Parker manuals...please let me know....

Thanks again for your help, pd...

I found this site while looking for info on a parker. I saw one at the local pawn shop today. It was a 10mm but the salesman said it came with another barrel to convert it to .40 S&W....anyone ever heard of that? I did not see an extra clip so I'm wondering does the supplied clip handle both rounds?

I could buy the gun for less than $400...does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

What kind of mags do they take? If proprietary they may be rare and expensive.

parker 10mm

I recently purchased the 10mm 5" barrel parker. It is missing the ejector. If anyone knows someone with parts for these please let me know..this is a needle in a haystack, and my my wife and daughters are aching to fire it! Thank you

Same problem here, can anyone help, or is there a proof, or drawing so we can get some fabricated..?
I believe we can make these actual great shooters with just a couple of simple adjustments in link pins and barrel bushing. Thanks, please let me know, with a pm and quick reply also, Sandy, aka HappyRoman
