XD Thumb Safety

I was waiting for that! as much as I'd like a thumb safety, I think I'll buy the original from someone that now has to have the thumb safety!

Is this just for the 45acp model? Smith & Wesson and Taurus also made 45 pistols with a manual safety for the canceled military trials.

I just bought a XD-9 Tactical model right after Christmas. I wish it had a manual safety on it. I will probably trade it in and upgrade if and when they have them on the XD-9s.

I prefer my XD's as they currently are: no thumb safeties. Then again if I ever get one with a thumb safety it will most likely be in the "off" position should I decide to carry it.

Thanks

Can't pull the link up tonight. Does the thumb safety model still have both the trigger and grip safties? Is it ambi?

...... kinda like my XDsc the way it is.

i love my xd's the way that they are, and i will go sans a thumb safety, but i think that is a great step for them, there is a mraket for folks that want thumb safeties, on thier guns, and they are answering the call.

Sweet! But, too bad I got mine a long time ago. I will consider it for a second one in the future.

Kind of feel like the most of you folks here. I enjoy the XDs as they are, noting the grip safety does indulge my mind a bit in being somewhat more cautious with the pistol compared with it not being there. So basically, if this thing comes about, you get a polymer equivalent to a 1911, but with a lousier trigger (comparatively speaking). I guess this does offer up something to the LEO fraternity, but if you can get a Glock without a safety and can be satisfied in law enforcement, why this now? Just curious.

I hope they all don't get the thumb safety. With all the safety features of the XD, it seems like overkill to me and just something else to worry about.

One of my local dealers today told me that the safety is going to be an option like on the Smith M&Ps.
