Has anyone installed their own PRP trigger kits? I am sure they would like everyone to send thier lower to them for fitting/labor charge, but can it be done by us? I am very mechanically inclined and not afraid of a challenge, but I was just checking to see if it is feasable for the rest of us. Discuss.

I installed my own and can't recommend it highly enough. PRP is actually pretty friendly and supportive to those who self install. Here's a couple of links to You Tube where the Match Easy kit is installed. Installtion on a XDm is only slightly different:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvWeszPx3qo&feature=related

PRP has since come out with the Ultimate kit which includes their sear and trigger with overtravel stop. Probably slightly easier to install as well. The match easy kit that I have came with a separate part that had to be sanded down and installed inside the frame for your trigger stop. My trigger breaks like glass with no overtravel.;)

Thanks CZ, that is exactly what I wanted to hear!

So maybe the "minor fitting required" is for the overtravel stop then? Other than that it looks very straightforward.

You're welcome.

The minor fitting should be confined to the overtravel stop. It looks to me like it will be easier with the "Ultimate" kit vs. the "Match Easy" kit that I used because the overtravel stop is now on the rear of the trigger. That's not to say that the "Match Easy" is difficult, it's just more trial and error on the overtravel stop. Assembling and disassembling as you sand the stop until you get it right. Daniel, the owner of PRP is very eager to help get it right.;)

I installed a kit in about 30 minutes and most of that time was sanding and trial error fitting to eliminate the over travel. It's easy and it makes a tremendous improvement in the way the gun handles ..... worth every penny. Mine is a xd9, and a great shooter right up there with my CZs, some days even better.

Awesome. Last week my wife "found" $100 that was mine from christmas that she "lost" in her gigantic purse. Originally it was going to my Glock fund, but I think this might be what it goes to......

striker fired guns scare me. I can disassemble my 1911 into all its parts with my eyes closed in <10mins. But i have not gotten the courage to dissemble my XDm9 past field stripping yet. I may order the ultimate kit and spend a sunday installing it.

I have done complete Volquartsen kits in Rugers but I chickened out when it came to putting in the PR easy fit trigger kit. I have a gunsmith 5 miles away that knows these guns well. I paid about $100 for the kit including the stainless steel over travel stop. My local gunsmith charged me $30 to install. I did have to bring it back for more minor fitting of the overtravel stop (no charge). The gun still has all the stock springs as I did not need a lighter trigger pull. It currently is 5.7 lbs. All in all I think the complete kit (ultimate match) may actually require less overall fitting and is probably easier to work with at home. By the way, the XDm and the Rugers are great guns to shoot with the kits in them.

Well I finally got around to ordering my trigger kit. The winter had been hellish here, and I am starting to get antsy to go shooting. I ordered the Match Target easy fit kit. I will let you know how it goes, thanks for all the input!

I don't know about an xd, you you'll detail strip a 1911 and be afraid to detail strip a glock? lulz.
