This one was on the facebook group for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus. From time to time we have an anti discuss our reasons. I bring you the best anti quote I have heard to date.
Basically, what I'm saying is that someone who assaults you when you have a gun is liable to get shot.
This is hilarious because that is the whole point of CC. Maybe they won't attack you because they don't want to get shot.

Yes the wonderful wisdom a 4 year college degree can bestow upon some one. I love some of the comments when I get a chance to look through facebook....I might just go do that now.

Facebook is the bane of my existance... I'm actually part of that group, never read through them though. Don't tempt me! I've got Chemistry to look through right now....

More brilliance from the same genius
Our campus prohibits
1) any instrument that has its sole use as a weapon
2) any instrument which has a blade in excess of 6 inches

a hand full of change is just as useful as a weapon. If you really are worried about personal safety, you should learn some self defense. That's what I did in 7th grade.
I'm glad he is ready to karate chop the next crazy guy with a gun.

Just joined it. I hadn't thought to check facebook for that. Just didn't connect the dots.
Still a great idea though. I'm all for it.

I just posted a reply to the latest anti on it. If you want some good quotes, find the anti RKBA groups. There is some rabid reading there...

When some mugger pepper sprays him and beats the begezus out of him, he'll have to rethink his theories of self-defense.

Any instrument? no lawnmowers allowed on campus? no butcher knives in the kitchen?

I'm on Facebook and been a member of the group for a long time. The arguements from any anti's don't hold any water and the arguements from a 19 year old to-do-gooder are even more childish.

IIRC, more than 95% of firearm defenses do not involve shots fired. Usually, the weapon is presented, and the attacker gives up or runs away.

So, the anti is wrong. If someone assaults you while you are carrying a gun, they are not likely to get shot, they are likely to run away.

Shame on us for:
A. Spreading the idea that someone who assaults a person who is CCW is likely to get shot
B. Reveling in the idea.

Someone involved in this facebook discussion should use this knowledge to educate the anti, although I imagine that it is probably too late; judging by the responses here, there are probably already multiple responses along the lines of "Duh, that's the point, anti!"

The point of CCW is to survive, not to shoot or kill the other guy. We wish that the figure was 100% would run away.

I'm a member of the group, and I'm looking to start some kind of pro gun rights group here at my college campus. I try not to look at the facebook page too much, I'm on THR already, if I spent as much time on facebook as I do here I wouldn't get any work done at all. On Facebook you are way more liable to get trolls then here, first of all, all types of people are signed up with facebook and all it takes is to click join group to post something on the page, but here you have sign up, fill out all the information, its way too much effort for your average troll.

I find it absolutely fascinating that the person who said this is more concerned about the "Assault-er" than the "Assault-ee."

Rape is a form of assault. Should we now be concerned for the safety of those poor rapists in case they encounter a armed woman and are unjustly harmed?

The mindset of the above quote is one of the things wrong with culture today. It is so wrong that it would take charts and graphs to fully appreciate.

Duct tape your head before you go there.

I used to have those debates all the time in usenet. The degree of malice and contempt for woman and rape VICTIMS in particular was simply astonishing.

I remember the Englishman who whined that women shouldn't be allowed to carry guns because he was afraid that he'd be "mistaken for a rapist" and be shot. I asked him how it was that he behaved around women, that he'd likely be "mistaken" for a violent sex offender. I told him his best bet was to put down the butcher knife, pull up his pants and go home...

Deanimator, I believe you.... which is why I think I'll pass on going over there. It probably wouldn't be good for my blood pressure.

Classic. Excellent.

At least they aren't claiming that assault, rape, etc. is part of Freedom of Expresson.... yet.
