Instead of listing all these polls separately, and then everyone and their brother going to them and voting, and then typing a "feelgood post preaching to the choir" about it, why don't we just start a megathread in the activism forum, and just append onto it?
The Virginia Tech massacre has ignited debate on gun control. Do you think:
18.2 % Handguns should be banned
15.6 % Gun restrictions should only be tightened
66.3 % No change is needed. Guns are only a problem in the wrong hands
17.8 % Handguns should be banned
15.4 % Gun restrictions should only be tightened
66.8 % No change is needed. Guns are only a problem in the wrong hands
That poll is entirely biased. What about the option of "More guns need to be in the hands of the right people."
"No Change" - is the best they've got? So they're basically saying, "Should we keep the amount of gun-control we have, increase it, or ban guns?" rather than give the option to lessen gun control and see to it that the people can protect themselves.
Gun-control is one reason why those poor kids died.
I voted. It's:
17.8 % Handguns should be banned
15.3 % Gun restrictions should only be tightened
66.9 % No change is needed. Guns are only a problem in the wrong hands
now. But I'd like to see some of that 66.9% differentiated into "Legit no change" and "More people need to have guns around for defense?"
That is one of the most biased polls I have ever seen.
The least you can vote for is to freeze current laws. Since people normally shy away from extremes they are instinctively more likely to vote to restrict gun ownership than they would be in a poll phrased more neutrally.
As has been pointed out, this poll is obviously, intentionally tilted in favor of gun control. You have a choice between banning, more regulation, or leaving the laws as they are. And I'm sure that they were expecting to at least have the first two answers add up to more than the last one. At least they aren't getting their way on that.
Unfortunately, this webbybox wouldn't seem to let me vote.
