My two home made rolling blocks, one in 45-70 and one in 30-06. I have posted a zillion pics of them already so I won't post any here. If you must see them, they are in this section, page 2 under "Random gun pics." Page# 27, post # 651.

I have many years of labor in them, an hour here and an hour there, after work. There is a special bond to a gun one carves out of a block of steel. When I croak, both go to a special friend. My son gets my avatar.

As a fabricator I appreciate you're perspective...I've never had the pleasure of handling that type but hope to do so someday.

Probably my 6” S&W Model 14 and/or the 4” Model 15 .38 Specials.

The Kimber Stainless Target II and SA Ronin 9mm 1911’s are right there though…as are my Ruger flattop .44 Spl and Bisley .32 H&R… and my Ruger Mk IV with the Volquartsen innards.

Man, this is tough. :(

Stay safe.

Handgun is my highly updated BHP. Long arm, probably my tacticool M1 carbine. I've got at least 3k rounds through it...

PTR-91. New In Box two weeks ago. They used German tooling (except for barrels) for years, then gradually switched to CNC production.

* My A3SK model has a 16" barrel plus a factory-welded upper rail.
The sight distance is the Same, whether an 18" or 16" barrel. The A3SK is all-black.

The lousy trigger is not so bad, --if you use the recommended pull technique--
The first two holes touched, right in the upper center of a bullseye at 50 yards. Iron sights: tiny 200-yard aperture.

The "rest" for 50 yards was just an empty soft, small backpack.

The 100-200m aperture is marked 2, the V aperture for the fast shot and night use is marked 1, as far as I remember from 40 years ago when the G3 was my service rifle.

After shooting the MR920 Elite yesterday, I will shoot this the next time. Everytime I take one of about a dozen guns to the range, that one is my favorite. Especially if I only bring one:).

My favorite is actually my little Polish Radom P83 Wanad, in 9x18 Makarov. I just love carrying it. It's little but so solid. It's heavier than my Shield but smaller. Almost a true pocket pistol. In fact I HAVE thrown it in my pants pocket a few times. Yeah, it's tough as nails and has never had a hiccup In all the years I've owned it. I have five 8rd magazines for it. I keep four of them in an old camera case and they fit perfectly. The mags are so slim compared to mags of other 8+1 guns, even 9x19's. I can carry 41 rounds ready to go and not be weighed down at all. One mag can go in a shirt pocket. I have a shoulder holster for the original PM Makarov which fits it almost perfectly. The Wanad is like a plebian PPK, and 9x18 is a little more potent than PPK's 9x17 caliber. It's also a very safe gun. I usually keep the safety off during carry. The DA pull is slightly heavy but not too much. My Wanad is the only gun I ever owned that let me simply pull it out and shoot a basketball-sized object from the hip at 20ft and hit it with fair consistency without using sights. Isn't that what really counts in almost any SD scenario where you're taken by surprise?

My second choice is my 6" Charter Arms "Stratford" Bulldog, in 357. The gun is so light, yet I can shoot most loads up to 158gr with one hand with ease. The long barrel makes it very accurate, even one-handed. I keep 8 loaded speedloaders for it for basic HD. It's also my wife's favorite choice for her own safety at home, and she's not even a gun person.

Third favorite is my AK-47 which I built up from the Saiga "sporting rifle" configuration. I use 20rd Korean steel mags almost exclusively, kind of a "tanker" configuration. In fact, when I bought the Saiga I was also considering a Hungarian AMD65. My thinking was almost entirely based on the premise of having to deal with heavily armed looters in a world gone wrong.

I have other guns, some of which are more practical than these for certain things. They aren't necessarily my favorites but if I didn't really like them I wouldn't own them. A few years ago I might have had my Enfield 2A1 on the list of favorites, but issues with my shoulder that's kind of forced me to give up using such a heavy weapon. Eventually my 2A1 will probably be replaced with a sporterized swedish Mauser. When that happens there may be a new "favorite"! ;)

I love my G17 because while it wasn't my first gun, it was the first gun that ever held any significance in terms of sentimental value. It was during BHO's first term and Glocks could not be found, but my wife found one and drove almost 2hrs north to the only shop that had a Gen3 17 and she got herself all lost and turned around trying to get it, lol. She took 91N to get there and took 91N to try to get back only to wind up on the Canadian border, lol. She's a brunette but even she will admit she's a ditzy blonde at heart (or brain). Lol. Jk.

But yeah, the G17 is my favorite, last gun I'd ever get rid of handgun. As far as my favorite long gun, while I have many AR's and others, I think my Remington 870TB is my favorite long gun, I just love that gun and all the joy it's brought me during what has been a pretty tough time as of lately. It's a very good quality gun, I really enjoy shooting trap with it and I can't imagine ever parting with it. Got it from a member here as well.

Runners up would be the Colt Cobra from my ol' man, Colt 1903 from a deceased friend of mine.... I might have said the Henry 45/70 but I've only had it a month and have only shot a few rounds out of it, but it could very easily be one of my favorites very soon...... I love all my guns ;)

My favorite was my dad's Fox Sterlingworth 12ga double, but I have passed that on to my 14 year younger brother. Current favorite is a Springfield Armory EMP4 carry. I enjoy shooting it and looking at it, but I leave carry duty to a 9mm Shield that I can live without if I must.

Today's favorite is a CZ 457 with Leupold 4x28 scope that I bought last week. Week before last it was a Winchester M12 circa 1916. And before that, an 1897 Winchester. Next week it might be my 222 or 17hmr. Honestly, my taste and fancy changes by the week. But if I had to pick only one, I suppose it would be my 700 in '06. It was dad's, now it's mine, and it has a lot of good memories attached to it.

The 200m aperture is marked 3. as far as I remember from 40 years ago when the G3 was my service rifle.

Cool looking gun. Allow me to show my ignorance of guns. So how does that one work? It does not appear to have a magazine in the handle, or am I blind to it?
