Your Favorite Handgun Acquisition of 2021

I lose track of time, and don't really remember what happened in 2020,2021 or 2022. Had to check my spreadsheet. Turns out I only bought 7 handguns in 2021. Two are cheapo revolvers that don't come close to making the cut. Three are 1911s, one Beretta & a Sig M25. The Sig was a gift, so I guess doesn't count. The 1911s & Beretta are all really good guns, but if I have to pick one, it would be this beat up STI Trojan in 45 ACP. Not the prettiest of the lot, but such a smooth shooter.

Congratulations on your first purchase. I’ve had my M&P 9 a while. I really like mine and think you made a good choice. I can’t shoot it as good as my target pistols but it’s a good shooter.

My favorite and only has been my 40 year old Ruger Blackhawk. I haven’t put it to it’s intended purpose (50+ yard hand gunning) but it’s a real shooter with hand loads out to 25 yards.

I had to dial back the 357 Magnum spice a little bit but everyone should shoot a pistol once that makes them wonder if there is any hair left on the back of their hands.

Just a few days before the boating accident I had picked up a S&W 29-2. I really enjoyed it while it lasted. I’m growing more and more fond of the older Smiths.

I don't see a better looking gun in this thread. That's probably because I really like guns with an honest patina of age and use (not abuse). I have a bunch of pristine guns, but the best looking ones in my eyes are the ones with honest wear, and even better if I'm the one who put the wear on 'em.

I've gotten this way with almost all guns. I appreciate the craftsmanship in older guns much more than I do the modern ones. Plastic, MIM, CNC-and-robot-built, computer-designed guns just strike me as having no soul. They can definitely serve a purpose, but I don't connect to them like I do some of the older guns.

Sig P-232 SL. Why? Because it's just so damn pretty.
