My first HD gun was a Dan Wesson Model 15-2 .357 revolver with a big ole 6" barrel! I guess I felt the need to have a hogleg like Dirty Harry. 
My first HD *weapon* was actually a sharp spear! I guess at that time I felt I really needed to go back to basics. It was the early seventies and I was in my twenties, liberal, and deeply into Eastern non-violence philosophy. However, I wasn't completely foolish.

It was a barely worn Colt 1911 that my dad gave me when I was 12. (A while ago). Pop worked late second shift and we lived in the country. In this time the county road crews were still on ball and chains and a guard sat on top of their dump truck with a 10 ga. double barrel. We spent some time with the pistol and it lived in a drawer and beside Pop I was the only one allowed to touch it.
