Your Last Revolver?

For you guys that are going to keep all your guns til the day you die, which one will be next to bed when you are 80 or 90?

I’ve tried to be selective with my revolver purchases so I like all of them equally. THE last one I would get rid of is my 6” M 27-2, not the most practical for an all-around revolver, but it's the one my wife bought for me. Now the one I would opt for if I thought I was going into danger would be my 5” M 27-2.

Last to get rid of is my grandpa's K22 from 1948, and that'll probably be the one next to my bet when when I'm 90 in 56 years.

Revolvers, the perfect high stress close quarter gun. I carry all the time, 2" S&W model 31, 2-1/2" model 66, 4" model 19, 2" Colt Agent (the original one - aluminum frame), Davis 38, what ever the situation may call for. Then I compete with Model 14, a custom 2-1/2" Official Police with star clips for under cover PPC (Alex H. from Ten Ring did an outstanding job by the way), Custom model 14 for PPC 3,000 matches. Then whitetail hunt with the Long barreled Python and S&W 629 Classic. Under the bed is the night time go to 44 special with frangables.....I say bring it on. If Jerry M. can hold the world record and shoot a revolver faster and better than the best auto, I'm working to get there myself..

forgot the shoulder rig for the custom 3" 1917 45ACP that I carry when dressed up and out on the town..

Just these two...

Hope it don't come to that but I'd keep these two (not one but TWO!)

In a SA revolver, it would have to be either my Ruger Single Six or my Ruger Vaquero. Both were gifts from friends of mine and they hold far too much sentimental value for me to ever part with them.

The DA revolver would be my S&W Model 686. Best DA trigger out of the box that I have ever encountered.

Laugh if you want but...

Of my half dozen revolvers the one I'd never part with is my 22magnum NAA mini.

At 63, I am already experiencing some preliminary wrist problems. I enjoyed big boomers - but saw the writing on the wall and sold my .454 SRH years ago - and can't recall the last time I shot a 'real' .44 Magnum in my 629's. My big bore shooting has been .44 Specials, .45 ACP's, and .45 Colts. I have .357 Magnums that have never seen - except when S&W tested them - 'real' magnums, either. Autumn '08 - I finally added a DA rimfire revolver - a 4" 617 - great 'last' revolver - not so good for defending the homestead - definitely not a CCW, but a super fun, frugal, and easy on the wrist revolver. Others have followed - smaller - maybe CCW with CCI Stingers.

Naw, for one that can do it all - a 2 5/8" PC627 UDR. It can be EDC - just not in the pocket, like my 642. But - 8 rounds of +P 158gr LHPSWC is easily discharged - and on-target at 7-25 yd. Plink with wimpier loads - probably a good choice - lots of reloads here.

Another choice... for the confused days of what to load... the Governor! Yeah, .45 ACP's, .45 Colts, or 2.5" .410 shotgun shells - and all available, at least now, from WallyWorld!

My head hurts... I don't want to play any more. I like my current choices - don't make me choose!!!

3" Ruger SP101, .357mag.

Most versatile, "do-it-all" gun I've ever owned.

Hey, Stainz -- I was wondering if your Governor would make it into the discussion. :)

My wife got me one for my Christmas present (the non-laser model). I'm itching to have a go with it, to see if it might work it's way into my final cut-off also.

I'm a revolver guy, and for some reason, I've developed an interest in .45 ACP revolvers lately...

.

I still have a couple that will have to be presented posthumusly.
My 6" Smith model 14, 3" Smith model 696 and My 4 5/8" lipsey Blackhawk along with the K22 will be shot as long as I'm able.

My 3 inch 66-2. Great do everything well revolver. I wouldn't part with it for the world. TJ

Which revolver will be next to me when I die? Since I plan to die on my feet, it'll be whichever I'm carrying that day.

Most days it's a 642-1. I'd say that'll be the one.

My one and only.....

My only revolver......

is my Dan Wesson model 15 .357. She fell into my hands for half the market value, and except for an ugly scratch on one side of the shroud, is in excellent condition.

I hope I never need to sell my DW. It's a true target/hunting gun , feels great in the hand and always gets a few nods of approval at the range.

Pictured with one of the historical knives I hammer out when I have the time.

Happy Shooting.
