Your Most Valuable Gun

Some very cool guns mentioned so far.

Money wise, the most I have paid for a gun is my Sig MPX in 9mm. I'm a huge Sig fan, and had been wanting a 9mm in an AR platform for a while so this fit the bill.

My most sentimental is a Remington model 41 my grandpa gave me, that was in a fire and burned the stock off completely, the bolt handle was also broken off. My grandpa welded the handle and put a Winchester stock he had laying around on it.

After he gave it to me, I refinished the Winchester stock and reblued the barrel. Then I got the urge to make myself a stock from scratch. Using some red oak I had, I made a pretty nice stock for a first timer. Also made the trigger guard and butt plate.

Your Most Valuable Gun

Been collecting firearms for over 50 years, not sure I can answer that. Does that mean what they are actually worth in today's market?...or what I'd like to think they're worth?...or replacement value (ie: Insurance loss?) Does that include accessories, improvements, custom work?

Pondering this, probably have several scopes that are in that couple thousand dollar range, not to mention suppressors. Quite a few guns that are in that $5000-to-$10,000 range, at least that's what I'd like to think they're worth.

In a previous career I specialized in Corvette and custom car restorations and painting....hence the nickname "Rembrandt". Each time I finished one, took the proceeds and purchased a nice gun, put it away as an investment. Some of those guns have tripled in value and more. No intentions of selling any, but they have appreciated substantially.

Right now, it's probably my TDE .44 Automag. My 80's-vintage stainless Colt Python is probably the nearest runner-up, followed by my 1941-vintage Mauser P08 Luger ("Black Widow" variant, if you'll forgive the marketing term. Still, it's in darn-near pristine condition with all-matching serial numbers) and my 1914-vintage military Colt 1911.

Got an old Hi-Power with Waffen Stamps, from when the Wehrmacht took over Belgium, and, consequently, the FN plant. I am given to understand these were highly sought after, during the war, and were distributed to Senior Wehrmacht Officers and Paratroopers. Or maybe that old Mauser contract (Walther) P-38, with the Waffen Stamps.

From a replacement cost perspective, it would be my Tikka T3X Lite Stainless in .30-06 if we include the cost of the scope (Trijicon Huron 3-9x). Maybe $1400-1500 at a guess.

If not including a scope, it would be the new Ruger Guide Gun in .375 Ruger. Maybe $1150-1200? Both are left-handed so getting a "good deal" isn't quite so easy.

In terms of $$$, my recently acquired Henry Repeating Arms repro of the 1860 Henry Rifle in .44-40.
From a sentimental point of view .... let me put it this way:

Contender #1: the Inland M-1 Carbine I inherited from my father, a U. S. Navy vet who brought it back from Korean War service.

Contender #2: 12 gauge Browning Light Auto 5 shotgun, also from my father.

most expensive, probably this one, Savage BA Stealth in 6.5 Creedmoor

Favorite but not most expensive handgun gp100 top right

But I am kinda fond of the little snubby in 45 colt also.

I'm into military surplus rifles so I think it would be between two rifles, my Romanian RPK with original barrel. I have seen ones just like it going for over 4k. (the barrel had not been fired when I bought it as a kit still had paper in it) Or the Romanian PSL all original. My original Mosin Nagant 91/30 sniper w/pu scope would be a close 2nd

This one single gun. In the one photo below.

Oh man I don’t really even consider monetary value, because they aren’t for sale anyway.
But I have this old C series BHP of my dads that I grew up with and learned on, that I’ve seen in action in a really happened defensive use, that isn’t going anywhere. It only eats FMJ, and the sights are horrid, but whatever

I have an old Colt SAA that is worth a lot of money thought I don't know how much.

I did however make a decision several years ago to tone down my collection a little and concentrate only on high quality firearms. I have one or two shooters that are exceptions but most of my guns are worth over 1K. I sold everything cheaper and buy fewer. But over time I now own as many as I ever have.

The last gun I'd part with is my Sears ,22 rifle my Dad bought for me in '68 when I was 13 for about $16. I don't have any real high dollar guns but do have a fully customized 1911 worth several thousand to replace.

Nothing in the way of an antique or passed down through the family as my Dad lost interest in guns after he returned home from WWII. Pretty much everything I have is from a quality manufacturer but nothing high end; mostly just every day working guns.

There are a few that have great sentimental value that I would never sell; to be passed on down to my kids and then their kids. My Ruger 10/22 which was the first rifle I bought would certainly be one of those "prized possessions" that I value quite highly but money wise wouldn't account for much. Same with a Beretta Model 70S that I had hard chromed plated by Metalife many years ago but still looks like new and is the most reliable .22 pistol that I have ever owned. Another .22 that I'm taken with is my two-tone Ruger Mk.II Target Model 512 which was part of a limited edition from the factory.

There's my Browning Hi-Power Mk.II that while it's not much to look at with it's matte blued finish and Pachmayr grips, is absolutely lights out when it comes to reliability and accuracy. I would have to say that my No.1 All-Time Most Valuable Gun would be my Colt Combat Commander as part of a limited offering with it's bright nickel plating, Gold Cup trigger, MMC adjustable rear sight, and accurized and tuned by Colt's Custom Shop. Many of the features of a Colt Gold Cup in a very reliable and accurate package!
