Your Next Handgun - Which One, and How You Plan to Get It ?

I plan to acquire anything I can by any means necessary, and right after I've gotten it I'll finally be able to feed my gnawing hunger for crack cocaine...

Just kidding! I couldn't resist the phrasing of this post.

My real plan is to go on gallery of guns and get the novak sights TALO model of the sp101 2.25in, with american dollars. I love the way the gun looks with those sights, and it's a funny coincidence that the unfluted GP100 I just got is also a TALO model. Not sure exactly how the know but TALO seems to make ruger revolvers in configurations I like.

ive been REALLY wanting a eaa witness full size steel in 38 super with a 17rd flush fitting mag.. but.. ive also been wanting to build a 1911 from an 80% frame but i wont be able to get 17 rounds of 38 super into a flush fitting mag with that route. tough decisions

I have wanted a new PPS for some time now so a couple of weeks ago I found them new at Kentucky Gun Co for $380. I bought one and picked it up the other day. I am happy now!

I ended up getting a smoking deal on a SIG SP2022. Pre-Thanksgiving sale. Gotta go look for deer now.

I just bought a Kahr P380 and love it. Will be selling my S&W .380 Bodyguard. Nothing wrong with it except the trigger is a bear.

now some folks have suggested that old guys like me should be shedding firearms not buying them. But i respond that as long as i'm living i might as well enjoy the money i've earned. The kids can sell stuff off, if they want, after i'm dead.

thumbs up!!!

I'm a big bore, full size, steel frame pistol kind of guy, but lately I have an uncanny urge to get a Glock 19. I'm probably just reading too many Internet forums.

I'm preparing to trade a nib Glock 36 for a used pre lock 686. My 617 needs a larger caliber twin and I don't expect to ever regret this decision.

That's my favorite range combo

Recently picked up a 638 J-frame and am now itching to pair it with a 649. G19 and G26 will be relegated to safe queen status ;).

A K-Smith.
I want to see if I can shoot IDPA SSR better with a lighter gun than my present 686 and Python.
I have a lead on a Model 67 for which I will cross the owner's palm with silver.

NAA-22M-CBK I am wanting this for xmas and I just let the wife know as she told me to pick either the naa companion or super companion so I went with the super companion! so looks like its gonna be a nice xmas gift :) and looks to be a lot of fun...

Most likely will build a 1911 for next years new gun, caspian frame and slide, with a kart barrel. I do not know yet if I am going to Kote it or Blue it. I haven't decided what extras will go on it yet, but it will be .45

Well, I should pick up my CZ Scorpion pistol in a couple weeks. I typically do lay-away as it helps my "restricted" gun budget:D

I really have no "needs" but my 2016 pistol purchases are looking like:

Ruger Blackhawk, stainless 4-5/8" barrel, .357 (if I can find a stainless convertible with the 9mm cylinder...that would be my top choice).

Sig P938 9mm; just to add another CCW to the rotation and I just love the way it feels in the hand and my shooting experiences with it are quite favorable.

Glock 30 Gen 4; just because I've always wanted one.

S&W 442 Airweight...only because I get the LEO/Mil discount and I gave my daughter my old one.

There, my planned pistol purchases for 2016. I will probably get the Sig, Glock and S&W from Buds (they also have the professional-discount), but may have to actually save up the $650 for when I find the stainless Blackhawk convertible on Gunbroker or maybe locally). Buds works best for me with the 90-days, same-as-cash discount (typically $150-200 cheaper than locally), free shipping and my FFL transfers only cost $10. That's hard to beat anywhere locally.

Ruger just released a new Redhawk in 45 Colt that also shoots 45ACP in moon clips. I have a New Blackhawk 45ACP/45 Colt convertible but you can't shoot hot loads in it. The new Redhawk will take the "Ruger Only Loads". I want to experiment with hot 45 Colt loads, 250 to 300grn bullets. Plus I can shoot 45ACP in it also. All of my 1911s are 45ACP. The new Redhawk is just starting to show up with a few distributors. So it will be awhile before they show up locally.
UPDATE: I saw one of the new Redhawks listed for sale on one of the gun forms from a dealer in VT. We emailed each other a couple of times and I bought it this afternoon!! It should be hear Friday or Monday afternoon. I'll be able to pick it up Monday or Tuesday. It's from Davidson's so has a lifetime warranty!! While it was not local, I just love it when a plan comes together!!!

There was a fowl up with the USPS and it took 3 weeks to get the Redhawk. But I finally got it on Wed, 12/9. :D:D Fit and finish is excellent. Here's a couple of pictures. The ammo in the pictures is 325grn LFN at 1155 fps.

I am going to have to look high and low for a 5.5 inch Ruger Vaquero in 44 Magnum. The blue/casehardened ones are harder to find than stainless and I just love those old sturdy wheelguns.

I've wanted one for a while and I might be done buying rifles for a while.

oooh! i got a line on a colt SAA. built in 1912 n supposed to be a great shooter.
i don't buy this idea that you just pay for the name.
i love fine machinery.

Well I'll brag a little. I picked up today a Bulgarian Makarov that I ordered from AIM Surplus. It is in almost mint condition with one very small spot with the bluing worn off on the end of slide probably from rubbing the box. Been spending the afternoon removing the heavy coat of cosmoline covering it.

I used my Cabelas card so I also earn some bucks to spend at Cabelas someday.

I'm going the simplicity route this time,,,

I posted that I was trying to find a 4" Rossi R98 Plinker,,,
Apparently they are made of unobtanium.

So, to have something to match up with my Savage Mk-IIF,,,
I am now thinking of a plain Jane 6" Ruger Mk-III,,,
The original model with the tapered barrel.

I usually pair up semi-auto rifles with semi-auto pistols,,,
And revolvers with bolt-action rifles,,,
But it's not an inviolate rule.

My next two purchases are another carry revolver (I'm moving away from small framed revolvers for that, and need more traditional medium-frame revolvers or the Taurus compact frame, like the Tracker or 445 and 415) and a 10 shot or better .40S&W auto.

The revolver will probably be a 4", 7-shot Taurus 66. Though, the 37oz, 3.75" Ruger Birdshead Vaquero in .45LC or .45ACP is also a strong (though unorthodox) possibility. There are others on my list (like the 3" 686 and 2.5" or 3" 629) but they'll probably wait. I'll probably put it on layaway at Buds while I wait for MD to process my handgun purchase license (about 30 days). However, I will check a few local shops over the next few days to price shop them v. Buds and to see if they are willing to let me buy it now and hold it for a month while waiting on the state to process my license (MD now requires a license to purchase, but I didn't need it for the guns I already had when the law took effect).

For the auto, it will be a S&W M&P40 Compact if the police trade-ins at Buds are still available in about a month. If they aren't available anymore at that point, there are a few midsized/compact and larger sub-compact 40's on my list to pick up over the next few years (CZ P07, CZ P06, SIG P250SC and/or P320SC, SIG P224, SIG P229, SIG 2022, S&W M&P40, S&W M&P40c) and I'll get whichever is the best deal. That one will be cash or credit card (or selling a couple guns I don't really like).

After those two, my next handguns will likely be another .45 (either the SIG P220 or another 1911), another revolver (if I go .357mag this time it will be another big bore, if I go big bore this time it will be another .357mag), and I'll finally get a .22lr pistol or revolver (I haven't had one since I sold my Ruger MkII several years ago).

For some unknown reason the Sig 1911 Fastback Nightmare seems to be foremost on my want list. However......I need to pay off the wife's Christmas gift first. THEN....I've also got a jones for a nice pair of pocket Swaros. Decisions decisions.

I think my next gun is gonna be a Uberti birdshead grip.

I dunno, I just like the looks.
This is what they call the "Old Model"
I just wish the grips were checkered.
