I have a convertible Vaquero and have chosen to shoot .45acp's rather than the .45LC. for a number of reasons, not the least of which is cost. A friend of mine is convinced that this will cause forcing cone issues at a more rapid rate than the .45LC. I call BS on the simple principle that if its lined up, its lined up, regardless of caliber. What say you. Many thanks in advance.

You're right, he's wrong. The bullet speed of the .45acp's is around the same as the speed from a normal, as in non cowboy action, reasonably stout .45Colt load. So either round is going to smack the forcing cone with about the same speed and thus the same force.

If you load your own ammo, you might want to consider having your .45 ACP cylinder headspaced for .45 AR. Same (or close to it) volume as the .45 ACP, great for range work with small charges of fast powder, but at least in my gun, cycles a little more smoothly than .45 ACP. When converted to use .45 AR, it still works fine with .45 ACP. I load .45 ACP and .45 AR on the same die setup on my Dillon, no adjustments necessary, just changing shell plates.
