Your top 5 carry guns!

CA Undercover (steel)
S&W Shield 1.0 9mm
CA Police Undercover (6-shot)
G43
S&W M37

Dear Governor has decreed that no magazines will contain more than 7 rounds. Not only has this made mass murder illegal (or at best, inconvenient if a firearm is used) but also has rendered moot any need for high-capacity firearms. IOW she has saved NY gun owners much needless expense. Three cheers for our governor.

I am certain (based upon shooting my stocked, 18" barreled 37s that weigh 6.5 pounds) that thing will put a stress test on your wrist with heavy loads.

The strap is the exact length to drive it straight out. So both hands are pushing that little bastard away from you when you fire it.

I think the original St Louis Stakeout guns were 20 GA. They were probably onto something.

I tried shooting skeet with it once. Actually hit a few. Until the guys with $10,000 custom doubles suggested I go play elsewhere.

S&W Shield Plus 9.14159265359 % of the time. I believe in familiarity.

Very rarely, my LC9s in a pocket holster.

My SR9c goes in the handlebar holster of my bicycle occasionally in leu of the Shield. Both fit same holsters.

  1. P365. With a twelve round mag it's the perfect combination of controllability and quick follow up shots, capacity, and ease of concealment.
  2. 442. For its role (pocket carry) not many guns come close to it. Not fun at the range though and I'm probably not getting in follow up shots very quickly.
  3. Glock 19 when in the mood for something larger. Just barely beats out the next one for being several ounces lighter.
  4. CZ PCR. Probably my favorite overall of this list, but for best for carry it falls down the list a bit.
  5. 3" or 4" .357mag. You can download to weak .38spl wadcutters or go hog wild with full strength heavy .357mag. I have two options here but the S&W 65LS doesn't get carried. It is the handgun I've had the longest, one of my first guns and my 3rd handgun (the first two were sold long ago). It holds too much sentimental value (and is getting to have too much financial value) for me to risk carrying it. So, a 3" new model Colt King Cobra currently gets the nod, and I'm in the market for a medium framed 2.5-4" .357mag so I can get faster follow up shots with the magnums. A D frame Colt or K framed Smith is one of my favorites for woods/outdoors carry.

Honorable mention: My 1st gen S&W 1911SC. It used to get carried whenever I was out of state (when I couldn't get a MD permit) until somewhere around 5 or 6 years ago (maybe a bit more at this point) and I've recently started carrying it a bit again. It is one of my favorite guns and is my nightstand gun (when not using a revolver in that role). However, I don't like a gun with a manual safety for CCW and everything else I carry is smaller, lighter or both.

From WisBorn -
"Well you need to take that special someone out once and a while too carry that Sig P238."

Dressing up at my age is mainly for funerals, IE coat and tie.
For Applebees and Olive Garden and etc I just put on a nice shirt and shine my boots - Oh Yeah, take my Sweetie with me :)

Well, at first I thought I couldn't respond to this thread, since I don't have a Top 5.

I have a top 10.

Colt 1911 LW Commander (if you're gonna pack a 1911...)
SIG P-228 W. German (sometimes, tradition is best)
SIG P-229 Legion (ah, the trigger!)
CZ-75 Compact (CDI factor)
SIG P-226 Legion SAO (best duty pistol ever, oh, and the trigger!)
Dan Wesson CBOB 1911 (simply cool)
SIG P-938 Extreme (my deep cover pistol)
Glock 43X (*sigh* I know, right? Sorry!)
SIG M18 (320 Carry w/safety) Don't know why, but I like it. Maybe it's the color?
SIG P-365XL (sublime, almost the perfect carry pistol?)
