I am just about to pull the trigger :neener: and order more bullets. After searching the forums and not finding specific answers I was hoping y'all might be able to help.

I found load data for generic 125 Gr JHP in Lyman's 49th edition that says:
IMR 700X starting 3.8 gr.@ 930 FPS and Max 4.2 Gr @ 1022 FPS
COAL 1.075

I will be shooting these out of a Glock 19 and 34 and I am using S&B primers and range brass and I want to try the Zero 125 Gr JHP and I was hoping that one of you might load this exact combination and can help with any information or advise.
I am thinking the Zero JHP's because of reviews and price. I will be using these for IDPA and target shooting and I would like to have a supply of JHP's on hand, just to have. These will not be used for EDC but I would rather spend a penny or two more than for round nose and have plenty on hand.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

I've shot 124g Xtreme plated RNs at 3.5g and 4.0g and 1.150 OAL out of a RugerP89.

3.5g chrono'd at 865 fps but was apparently too light with cycling issues.

4.0g chrono'd at 995 fps with no cycling issues.

Decent powder but might be a little flaky for some volumetric dispensers. I use a Chargemaster with Lee powder through dies so not an issue for me.

I've used Berrys 124gr FPTP, COL 1.120 3.7, also P89. Worked well also. Need to figure out where to Chrono my rounds so I know exactly what they are doing.

Update, Help?

Based on Lyman's information of 3.8 to 4.2 Gr.for the generic 9MM 125 Gr. JHP using 700X
I am using Zero 125 JHP bullets.

I loaded 3 rounds each of 3.7, 3.8, 3.9, 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 and headed to the range.
Holy cow- I think they are off.
I started with the 4.0 Gr. and it was a solid charge- much more forceful than 115 Gr. ball ammo.
Went thru all the loads one at a time, even the 3.7 (which is under the starting weight of 3.8) was pretty stout and cycled my Glock 19 with no issues.
I thought felt recoil is less with heavier loads?
I had great accuracy from all loads at 15 feet. No real difference in any of the loads.

Anyone have any load data for 700X?
If 3.7 worked just fine should I stay with that? Lyman's recommends a COL of 1.075 could that be too short?
Lymans says at 3.8 Gr of 700X should be at 930 fps and 4.2 is 1022 fps.
If the COL is right, would a chronograph be the next logical step to see if the load is right?

Definitely get some rounds through a chrono so you know exactly where you are. Not that it matters for target shooting but IDPA has a power factor floor of 125 and if the Lymans info is anywhere near right you will be quite a bit below that at 3.7gr, in fact the max charge just makes it with little room for error. If that matters to you, local matches most likely dont chrono loads but if you want to know you are "playing by the rules" or you ever want to go to a big match, they will chrono your loads.

Also 15ft isnt really going to tell you anything about accuracy, you need to stretch that to something more like 25 yards and shoot off a rest to see what is actually accurate and what is not.
