Looking for ideas...

When you carry around the house do you use your "normal" outdoor holster? Or something else?

When I'm going out I do an IWB attached to my belt, but I'm looking for something for more relaxed wear - especially for days when I won't be carrying CC outside.

Something that is easy to slip on and off would be greatly preferred (my current IWB is great for carrying, but rather awkward to don and remove).

Concealment is not required, though the option to easily cover the holster would be nice.

Normal carry is a S&W M&P 40 (full size), and that's what I'd be looking to carry around the house as well.

Edit to add: I've tried a clip-on OWB, but looking for better ideas if they're out there. Also just generally curious about how folks carry in different situations.

House or not, I just carry the same Walther PPS in a TT Gunleather IWB. I'm so used to it that it feels foreign not having it on. You're carrying a larger gun, so maybe you just get a sturdy OWB if comfort is the issue.

My EDC is a ruger lcp. It is do small that I normally just leave it iwb when I get home. Sometimes it goes in the pocket if my sweats or shorts, but I do keep it on me.
There is an inexpensive holster called Tagua 4-in-1 that will carry iwb, owb, sob, left hand, or crossdraw. I have one. Your options are open for about $35.

S&W 337PD 38+P 10oz in pocket holster. 24/7. Remember to take out of pocket before diving into the pool in the summer. Its so lite, i forget its there.

Uncle Mike's pocket holster.

I carry a g19 IWB, but I also am looking for a better “house holster”.

It’s not uncomfortable to the point where i don’t carry, but I do see a benefit to watching Tv without a butt digging in my side.

For carrying around the house I have DeSantis Nemesis holsters that slip into the right-rear pockets of my 501s.

When I sit, I usually remove the holstered pistol and place it beside me. If I need to draw the pistol while it is in my pocket, a quick, smooth draw is very easy, safe, repeatable and natural.

====== EDIT =====

BTW, my pistol grips fully protrude from the pocket.

Man in Nevada walked into a woman's house on January 9th, through an open and unlocked door and shot her in the head. He stole an Apple watch, and a few silver rings he pawned the next day. A few days later he walked into another lady's house and when he saw her in the hallway, shot her in the face with a .22LR handgun. She retreated to the bedroom where he shot her three more times. He fled before taking any items. On the 16th, he returned to an older couple's home where he had worked as a landscaper and stolen the .22. He confronted the lady in the mudroom and shot her. The man was in the master bedroom sitting on the bed getting dressed. He was also shot dead for a handful of jewelry pawned the next day. Shooter was busted the 19th on a tip probably because he pawned the stolen items that had identifying marks (initials) so quickly.

This wasn't a "sentinel" event that changes what we know about home invasion and home defense, but it is a reminder that the arsenal of idealized home defense weaponry stashed away in the closet or under the bed isn't a substitute for vigilance, SA, and a defensive sidearm on the person. I highly recommend a watchdog as a partner in vigilance and SA because of their other benefits, but I suppose a lot of electronics could be a substitute.

I can't say what will work with sweatpants or pajamas. I dress and carry the same way inside or out. I have kiddos around the house which limits what I can stash, but I know the first weapon I can get to is going to be the most vital anyway.

I just use a safariland duty holster on a separate belt if I'm just around the house and concealment isn't an issue. Easy on and off (just put the belt around whatever you're wearing at the time, so it works even if you don't have another belt on) and it's a nice and secure holster. Much more comfortable than my usual carry method (AIWB) and the belt can also have mag pouches and a flashlight.

The safariland does stick out a good bit though, so maybe a normal (more "OWB Concealment" oriented) kydex OWB holster on its own belt might be a better option if you want to be able to throw on a shirt or jacket to conceal it.

I keep six within easy reach. BTW, I don't consider under the bed easy reach.
Just my wife and I with the four paw alarm system. Lots o'warning.
I put it away, but accessible when company comes, and drop a Baby Chief in my pocket.

Agreed that such an event is unlikely... but that or something like it is the reason I'd like to carry on my person more in the house.

Thanks everyone for sharing, please continue!

If it’s comfortable enough to carry around all day working or playing, I don’t notice it once I get home.

FWIW I have IR motion sensors around my house to alert me when critters are moving around out there, gives me notice to things that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Keep the door locked. If they break down the door that's an invitation for Miss. 00 Buck to come out for a little attitude adjustment.

Oh, trust me, Mr. Winchester sleeps nearby when we do. But he's a bit far away if we're at the other end of the house. It is also not impossible for someone to break in such that they might be between me and Mr. Winchester during the day.

I use the same Tuctite Annex appendix holsters that normally carry my G19 or 43. Pants on, gun on. If it's a lazy weekend morning in sweats, then there's usually something within reach or an LCP in the pocket.

I carry the same pistol as you everyday as my service weapon. I'm plainclothes and spend most of my time sitting in uncomfortable (the rack comes to mind) government issued chairs. I usually just carry in a simple Bianchi pancake-style holster. It is very comfortable and keeps the pistol out of the way yet readily accessible. I don't see why the same type of holster wouldn't suit your needs.

My house has 6 Glock 9mm's spread around, along with my CC S&W shield, and a a scattergun sleeps under the bed. There's an old 1911 in my toolbox in the garage, and a Glock 23 in the works shed out back. My jeep, truck, and mrs FL-NC's car all have 9mm Glocks that live in them. So, I don't need to carry a gun on me in the house if I don't want to.

Pants on, gun on....everywhere but the local bar or the gov't buildings I sometimes have to visit (ok, ok, maybe I visit the bar more often than the gov't buildings). I'm fortunate as I am in Texas and can carry using OWB holster as we have open carry and this allows for less restrictions on the visibility of CC gun. Point being the holster doesn't have to be inside the waist band and is therefore, IMO, more comfortable. I currently use a Blackhawk Serpa that is modified for easier removal from my pants/belt. Glock 27.
