How often do you clean your EDC?

Complete cleaning after every range session and whatever it needs in between.

A clean gun is a happy gun and a happy gun will take care of you.

I don’t remember the last time I cleaned one of my carry Glocks.

My carry gun and my home defense gun, a couple times a week, I pull them from the holster, unload, functions check. It’s never looked or felt like it needs cleaning. I add some CLP to the rail channel and call it good. I will clean defense guns after the range if it’s more than just shooting a mag or two of carry ammo to rotate, but that’s been months. Won’t happen until the snow is gone.

My regular range Glocks haven’t been cleaned since early last Fall and I’m estimating 3000 rounds through one of them...a G19. The G34 is around 1000 without cleaning. They’re dirty. Outside and in. Still going bang. I’m seeing how dirty I can get the G19 before it fails.

I hold my ejected rounds up to other rounds to see if there’s a shift at all. In dozens of chamberings and rechamberings, my Gold Dot 124+P hasn’t setback any visible difference.

Anything I use for self-defense gets fired at least monthly. They get cleaned after each range trip.

I carry a J frame so it's not as sensitive to dust as semi-autos. I usually shoot the cylinder and reload before I leave the range usually at least monthly. I go to the range more than that but carry ammo is expensive so I shoot replica ammo other times.

I clean and lubricate mine every time I shoot it.

If for some reason I don't shoot it, I take it apart and lube it every month or so. When she looks dry, it's time.

Do you eject the chambered round? If so, do you rechamber that round?

I ask because of concerns about bullet setback for rounds that get chambered again.
I replace a round after it has been re-chambered twice. I carry Speer Gold Dot and have never had a problem with bullet setback. But it's better to be safe then sorry.

Field-strip and complete clean/lube, only after shooting.

Wipe down outside, clean out lint around hammer, trigger, sights and blow out barrel, maybe a smidge of grease on rails, weekly.

YOU FAILED TO MAINTAIN YOUR WEAPON SON

Loved this Movie "Harry Brown" the Old, Ex British Marine that gets caught in the middle of a bunch of dirt bag gangs. His best friend is killed, and he takes revenge. This scene is powerful. The scum bag was about to kill Harry and his gun jammed.
Personally, I am OCD about my guns. I clean the always upon arriving home from the range. And I am miticulous cleaning them. The idea of carrying a EDC gun that is not perfect, drives me crazy. The stuff for nightmares. Warning Graphic

After firing, or an event where it is unusually dirty- like dropped in the sand, or soaked in the rain.

You're supposed to clean it?

My usual is a stainless internal-hammer revolver, so not much to clean. I check the barrel for lint every six months or so, and there's never any there.

Great movie

Once every few months, I dont shoot much though so it's more of a carry alot and shoot little.

if you carry an auto for EDC how often do you unload and clean it? I had a pair of FTE when shooting my carry gun with my carry ammo this week and I have a suspicion that dust bunnies might have contributed to multiple failures of what has always been a reliable pistol.

The really cold weather has hampered my shooting. I do not care to pay for indoor ranges although I might have to start thinking about it. I usually field strip and clean my gun after any range session. Other wise, I will just occasionally wipe it down. If I had a EDC that FTE from dust bunnies, in my case dust elephants, I would be concerned.

I took it back out and shot it today after a good cleaning and lubrication. It’s still jamming. I think it’s time for a new recoil spring or maybe an extractor spring, although extraction doesn’t seem to be the problem.

If I'm on a conf call in my basement, I might pull it out and use some computer duster to hose off the lint. As for a real clean...usually after I shoot it.

If it is an EDC it would get field stripped and minimal cleaning every day whether it was shot or not. Just like the EDC knife gets cleaned and checked and the EDC flash light gets checked and the EDC watch gets charged and ...

I clean mine once every 100 rounds or one year, whichever comes first. I EDC glock. I'm unconcerned with lint, or whatever fine sediment.

Clean? Probably once a month. A cleaning brush to sweep out pocket lint off the rails and barrel? Once a week.

If it's being carried under conditions where perspiration is a possibility, it's wiped down and lightly oiled whenever I remove it at the end of the day.

If it's "no sweat" conditions, cleaning is usually only after range time, though visual inspection is near daily.

This has been my routine for around 20 years and I haven't ever experienced a debris-related malfunction, a spot of discoloration or a speckle or rust. I have used CLP nearly exclusively.
