I decided to buy a stainless 1911-type .45 and was shopping at Cabelas, where I could handle and test the triggers of several models. The one I picked had the best trigger and excellent exterior finish, the Rem 1911 R1S.
Shooting it proved very nice, comparing favorably with my Colt National Match, which I don't carry or keep in the vehicle, being a family heirloom, having been passed to me on the death of my B.I.L..
The R1S shot much better than the S&W .45 M&P Stainless, which, because it's a lighter piece, jumped around quite a bit more.
The R1S has a sear-spring problem and was sent to Remington for warrantee repair, through Cabelas, but it's been several weeks and it's not back yet. Hopefully, it's neither lost nor stolen in the mail, because that baby has/had a very nice trigger and I love the way it handles ball ammo.
