My buddy at the gunshop thought if he waited a bit he would get it for less than $300 -- I think he's still a little mad at me for spoiling his plan.
$300??? WOW! he should be glade you got it and he can look at it

My miss…good condition 3rd change HE 60-70% finish, good lock up, good timing, $625 and It was gone the same day… as I was debating & researching. Same with the snub nose pre-27! and a 6” Old Nickel Python

I have an ugly but perfectly functional .32-20 M&P Im not in love with if you still want one. Much cheaper than that, lol. PM me if interested.

Probably too big. Prolly should sell some. Make it easier on the missus and kids when I bite that last projectile. Dang. That's difficult.
a retired colonel here in my area has been off loading his AMAZING collection at a local shop. Factory Engraved SAA, Colt Snakes, Freedom Arms, HK semi-auto hunting rifles, Long Horn… was shooting at the range and he drop off 2 Les Baer.

Here’s the thing… Gentlemen was a pure collector and not a shooter, at lease what he was putting on consignment. All his guns are in Perfect unfired/near condition.

he had the idea of not wanting to have his bride deal with his collection if & when…

Me.. my Will: You boys will take my guns and shoot them or your inheritance goes to the Cat Shelter Cooperative!

Unfortunately, all of my firearms are somewhere at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

I understand that's a joke and all... I've made the same relative statement at one time or another.... but at this point I don't really care. I have what I have, in my possession, legally purchased and held. Come and take it.

What I'm into these days:

One of the revolvers I really regret selling is my S&W 63...

why did you buy 2 exact sane one?

Because one in none and 2 is one?

Kinda sorta.... I have 3 CW9's...

...although I'm always on the lookout for #4...

Not enough! :)

I only had three when I was a young adult: Ruger Single Six, Taurus 66, Taurus 85. They were all good specimens and I didn't get more until after I gave the 22 to a relative and the other two were stolen in a burglary. I've kinda branched out since then. :)

This is the one I've had the longest. I bought it at a local mom-and-pop sporting goods store to replace the Model 66 that was stolen. It was the winter of 2000/2001. I paid $199 for it used. The grips are from Thailand.

WoW that box is different!
The question comes up here and on other forums, "Does having the box make any difference?" (or some variation of that) Well, I probably wouldn't have bought that gun except for the box. Normally, I don't care for revolvers with a 6" barrel, especially a K-frame, 38, with the tapered (pencil) barrel. The barrels just look too long and skinny. I like a 4" barrel, with very few exceptions. That was one of the exceptions. Having that gold/blue box made the deal. I suppose I bought the box, and they threw the gun in. :) At one time I had several of those of boxes and the guns that went with them. One was a 1955, 357 (a "pre-27") with a 5" barrel, another was a 2" M&P 38. I forget what year that one was from, but it too was in the 50's. Those old gold/blue boxes catch my eye. Both of those were all matching numbers (frame, cylinder, and underbarrel, and written on the bottom of the box. Sometimes you have to hold those boxes just right to see the tracing of the numbers since they tend to wear off over time.

Other exceptions to my 4" only rule.

Model 57-1 from 1985 IIRC. I made an exception for this one because it was just so darn nice looking, and it looks like "Dirty Harry's" gun. My 44 Magnum is a 4". Plus I had a bunch of loaded ammo, and reloading components left over from a previous 41 magnum I'd had and sold off. Anything that looks like a finish defect is a my lousy lighting. I don't shoot this one a lot, but boy does it shoot.

On the other end of the scale is a rather mundane 642 that I got to use as a carry gun when my back got to acting up and heavier guns just got too painful to lug around. I've had it to the range and it doesn't shoot too awful. I've had other J-frames in the past but had sort of sworn off them, but they're hard to beat for light weight.

"Does having the box make any difference?"
I see that question once in a while too. The only used gun that I bought or traded for that came with a box is my Colt DS, but it’s not the original box.
To some the box is very important. To me, not so much.
I think having the original box shows a level of care for the handgun…maybe.
I keep my new handgun boxes, but I rarely keep my long gun boxes. I have moved so many times and room is money when moving so rifle boxes take up too much valuable space so I recycle them.

Your model 57 is absolutely beautiful, by the way.

I'm the same way Pat. I don't save long gun boxes generally, but then I don't have but two long guns (Unless you count my Umarex M1A1 Thompson, which I do still have the box for) but I've never saved the boxes for them even when I had more. Not having the box on a used handgun sale isn't a deal breaker, but even my wife knows I'm a sucker for them, especially if they're an older model. At my LGS they put a little white sticker on the back of the price tag with "box in back" on it, if they have the box. She'll spot that little white sticker before I do..."It's got the sticker" she'll tell me. She's the best salesman the place has.

Edited to add: If it's not the original box, it's just a box. Or at very least period correct for the gun in question. A Glock box for a Smith and Wesson? Nah...that ain't gonna work.

I guess you could say I'm a revolver fan.

I got in the game later in life, pretty sorry I did, as I enjoy them more than my autos and rifles.
A few Rugers, a few Colts, and a Freedom 83. It all started with a Super Blackhawk 44 about 15 yrs ago, then really gathered steam around 2018 with a Super Redhawk 454. It was all downhill for my wallet from there to present.

What's the second photo?
that’s called a Altor 9mm Super Service British Spy gun! I’ll going to have it threaded for the 1959 USSR Spy look!

it’s a cheap but cool 9mm break action with a slingshot trigger
